So I'm debating whether or not to buy the new vita slim. I'm a huge fan of it I've been doing a lot of research into the specs and hardware and all the games available, and there are quite a few I'm interested in. Additionally PS+ Sounds like a cool service to go for. However, I did own the original PSP many many years back. After using it for around 2 months and enjoying it, i completely lost interest and didn't enjoy playing it at all and forgot about it, earlier this year I found it and sold it for £30. Now, with this shiny new vita I'm starting to think.. hey this looks really cool I want one, but I'm not sure if the same situation will happen again to the Vita. Will I loose interest? Personally I think I lost interest in my PSP becuase of 3 main reasons:

The PSP sucked And I didn't like how it felt. Well it least I thought it did anyway. The triggers were loose, and you only had one joystick. This is one of the main reasons I want a vita becuase it has the 2 joysticks, and if you pop it in a controller holder, I assume it feels just like a controller. This is my opinion on the PSP anyway there are probably a lot of you who liked it.

I was a lot younger. I think when I got my PSP I was around 13. I wasn't as much of an avid gamer as I am now and i really never just played it. I was too into playing computer games.

I had no games. I think my PSP game collection extended to about 7 games at its peak, The best games I remember being Star wars battlefront 2, king kong and rainbow Six. Now I never really was blown away by any of these games and thoroughly enjoyed them. I clocked the most hours on B2 because you can play as a Jedi, apart from that I didn't own any good games. I wanted to buy more, but I never did due to money. Now I have money, this shouldn't be a problem.

With the Vita, I'm excited about loads of games. the ability to replay rachet and clank, killzone, borderlands 2, trials evolution, uncharted and more.

So what do you guys think. Theres a bundle on amazon for a PS vita slim + 8gb card + 6 games for £149.00. I think its a great deal and value for money, and the price isn't the issue, I just want to ensure I get my moneys worth. Is it worth me, someone who lost interest in my PSP getting a vita.

Thanks

I love my Vita

It really does give you a console feel in a portable but also does portable games well.

well I can give my input.

Negative:

- The triggers are horrible in the non slim version, I doubt they are better on the slim one.

- You need to add the cost of a memory Card, and a fairly big one at that, I run 3x 16 gig Cards, and it is not enough by a long shot (would prefer a couple of 4 gig ones at this point). So it is an added expense that really must be underlined.

- Games can be really hard to find retail most Places in the West it seems 8well you can buy them from online sellers, I simply mean physical stores)

The Positive:

- If you have PS+ for any other PS console you just get vita games, so that is a very good thing, that alone makes a ps4 (or 3) + Vita combo worth the PS+ without the shadow of a doubt.

- The Vita likely has THE best control input of any handheld I've held, precise responsive and fast, it does not feel exactly as a playstation controller, since you lack triggers, but it is a closer proximity then most will admit, and it Works absolutely flawlessly.

- The games avaiable have a huge range, and while I think it might be depending on the continent, you live on you have access to a Whole heck of alot of PS1 +2 games, a tonne of Indie games that workds really well on it, and some very good exclusives and adoptations.

- nomatter the screen (old OLED or new LCD) the games looks quite good on it.

- It is fairly powerful for what it is, which ironically makes me wish it came out a year later, with 1080 resolution and a HDMI cable, in that case the PS4 would look less appealing, and the PS3 would get chugged.

- If you like the quirky Japanese (and just in general9 games from the glory days of consoles, then you should note that they simply landed on the Vita and 3ds. And they are still as good as ever :)

The downright ugly:

- I keep stating this because it pisses me off to no end, and while I know it is because the Vita IS fairly powerful, it still frustrates me just how fast it runs out of power, you might get 6 hours of playing a game out of a charge (7 on the slim model), that is IF we are being generous. more demanding games will sap it even faster.

Bottom Line:

- I would reccomend the Vita to nearly anyone, using the vita to play PS4 games are fun and all, Works decent (not wii u good, but for the most part acceptable) but it is the handhelds own merits that makes it my favorite handheld, even despite the battery, I find the Vita to be the best handheld Ive had, it feels good to hold, the input feels good, it looks great (sounds ok, camera is utter crap, but it is a handheld). It has a very good selection of games, and if you own any other PS branded console I would call it a no brainer.

@Maddie_Larkin: Great thanks for replying with all that. I've read it all and taken it into consideration. The memory cards is another issue but I'm hoping to buy most of my games on cartidges so I don't have to buy more and more new ones. Think I'll order mine tonight then I'm really looking forward to getting one :)

Here are my thoughts as a PSP, PSP Go, Old Vita and slim Vita owner:

100% buy the PSP slim if you can afford it. It is a great system with a great catalog of games. Sure there are a TON of "AAA" titles out there, but the system has a ton of pick up and play games that keep me occupied for HOURS (aka person 4, daganrompa, daganrompa 2, etc.). Yes like any system you will probably hit a point where it collects dust for a little, but what is great is that it is VERY easy to come back to and with PS+ there are always reasons to pick it up and at least try the games offered, because it is free and you never know what you will become addicted to. Yes the memory cards are WAY over priced, but again IMO bite the bullet and pay for the largest size if you can afford it and then take advantage of the digital game downloads on PS+ and such without running out of space. If you have any questions about any of the games or anything else vita related, don't hesitate to shoot me a message on her or PSN (topher78714). I've played most of the major vita releases and can help you find some that may be of interest to you. But glad to see you considering it!

@topher78714: Great thanks, I'm about to order my Vita, what do you think of this bundle deal?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Playstation-Vita-Console-Plus-Adventure/dp/B00N0E9BZI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1418668036&sr=8-5&keywords=playstation+vita

Maybe when I get a vita I'll add you on PSN. I'm thinking of signing up to ps+ as well but I will only own one playstation device.. the vita. Will it still be worth it? Do i get 3 games a month instead of 6 or something.

And I'll be buying the slim, I've looked at both old and new vitas and I prefer the slim... Only downside is the LCD screen but I'm sure thats not a big impact. I'm struggling to see why Sony went for the LCD instead of the LED. Kinda weird if you ask me but they probably have their reasons.

Thinking of buying these games straight away for vita what do you think?

Ratchet and Clank trilogy (huge fan when I was younger probably what I'm most looking forward too)

Killzone Mercenary (I like the odd FPS and as this gets all the praise i can't help but not resist)

Lego Hobbit (I'm not a big fan of lego games but I do enjoy them. However I'm a huge fan of the Hobbit and I can kind of see this one being cool with all the dwarfs)

If you have any other games you think I should buy straight away to really get me enjoying the console and getting it a good start, please tell me which to buy. (would prefer cartridge games and not DL)

Thanks again :)

@killerk1ng: I think that looks like a great bundle, and those games in there if you haven't played them yet should last you a good amount of time. 100% go for it.

As far as games that you have listed:

if you are a ratchet and clank fan and want to relive the "glory days" go for it. I liked the old games, but going back to them for the third time was enough for me...but they do hold up well and brought back good memories.

Sadly Killzone is one of the few I haven't played, but I heard okay things about it.

I liked lego hobbit, but I like the lego games. I didn't play that one on Vita, but I did play it on another system and liked it a lot....but it is a lego game and if you didn't like the other lego games you may not like this one even with the topic of choice.

Here are my personal recommendations:

Persona 4 the golden...you will put a TON of hours into this and it an amazing game. I 100% recommend if you like RPG games. I you haven't played any of the persona games, they are very deep and may take some time for you to understand the mechanics, but it is by far the best game on the system in my opinion.

If you like visual novels (think things like Ace Attorney) where gameplay is second to story, get Daganrompa and then get Daganrompa 2. Both are fantastic games and have a long story so you get your money's worth.

I also love the binding of isaac rebirth, but I'm an old school zelda and rogue like fan and this feels very familiar to me. Great game and different experience every time.

Digaea games are always good, but again very long and complicated if new to the series...but still good games if you can give it the time it needs to grasp the mechanics.

and finally any of the Tell Tale Games (Walking dead, etc.).

Hope that helps, and happy playing!

I purchased my Vita eight months ago, and I love it. I've played more than 40 games. Muramasa Rebirth, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Gravity Rush, Metrico, Spelunky, OlliOlli, Sound Shapes... So many great games to play on the go, if you ask me. And, I still have tons to play! I also have a PC and a PS3, but I've played games mostly on my Vita since I bought it.

@turkey4dinner: I've got uncharted with the bundle I bought. Really looking forward to that as well. There seems to be a lot of games our at the moment.. But the future of PS Vita is what I'm worried about. There doesn't seem to be much interest from Sony.

@turkey4dinner: That kinda sucks was hoping a few AAA games would be coming out. I expected the majority to be indies. Oh well. The existing library is pretty awesome.

vita is the best handheld ever created... without a doubt. it is criminally underrated and under developed for.

I had the White original PSV that came out with Assassin's creed, I also had Persona 4 Golden, Tearaway, Killzone Mercenary, Soul Sacrifice, Lego Batman and Danganrompa. Once I had my plat for Persona 4 I just found everything else to be very boring so I sold it to get a 3ds and I'm more than happy.

My 3DS has been collecting dust since I got mah Vita. Been hoarding games for it from PSN and have a decent backlog already with games like: Killzone: Mercenary, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Soul Sacrifice Delta, The Walking Dead: First Season, Gravity Rush, Ridge Racer Ultimate edition, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus, MGS Collection, Tearaway etc...

Don't get me started on Ninja Gaiden...I will never see that platinum. Anyway, Vita is a great console and definitely worth it. Currently playing Need for Speed Most Wanted, another great game for the Vita.
