No matter what I do it won't connect me to the wireless on my PSP. Do I have to buy extra things to get onto the internet or am I doing something wrong to connect it.

you need to have access to a wifi source, and then connect that way.

Alright, my wireless is called 2wire295

And that's what I'm running my PSP off of too.
I'm not sure what a password would be for it though

It says...

A connection error has occured.
The attempt to obtain the IP address
timed out.

Connection Name 2WIRE295
SSID 2WIRE295

Well it could be that you are too far away from your router, try to move closer.

If that doesn't work, when you scan for a access point, and it comes up with the name of the point, under the security column, does it come up with WEP, which means you don't need a password, or WPA followed by a bunch of differnet letters, which means you need to figure out the password.

The only other thing I can think of is that your router is not compatible with the PSP, but that would probably come up with a different error.

Alright, when I scanned it read

SSID Security Signal Strength
2WIRE295 WEP 100%

I hit enter, and the SSID is 2WIRE295

Does that have to be changed at all?

Cause after that, the next screen is the WLAN Security setting which has

None
WEP
WPA-PSK (TKIP)
WPA-PSK (AES)

take me from there cause I think that's probably where my problem is coming from

Each one takes me to a different screen

What's a WEP and WPA key?

Alright real quick,

I tried to manually insert the numbers for the IP and what not and when I tried to connect me it says

Communication with the server failed
A DNS error has occured
(8041041F)

Does that help any?

WPA means password protected, so if you can find out the password, it will probably fix your problem. WEP means no password, so it might act like what happened to you. I would try WPA-PSK- TKIP first and enter the password, then the other WPA.

The WEP/WPA key is a security thing. It keeps others from stealing internet (Damn neighbors...) But what you have to do is find the WEP key on your computer, it shouldn't be too hard. Just go into Network Settings or LAN settings...or you can set the security to none, it would make it easier, but others can use your internet.

The psp need a "g" router not a "b". Most routers are both but if yours is old it might only be brodcasting "b".

Here's some tip and since you're sing a 2wire router:

1. On your [PC/Mac] browser's address bar, type "/home" without the quotes. You will then see your router's control panel.

2. Click the Home Network tab on the top. You will see there's a Status at a Glance box, click the Edit Settings button.

The next following steps requires you to reset the network key or password since you don't know or forgot the password or there's no password at all.

3. On the Identify Network section, The Network Name Field is your wireless router's SSID. On the Wireless Security section, check the enable box.

4. Select WEP-Open on the Authentication field.

5. Click the Custom Encryption button. Then go to this website to generate a hexadecimal key for any word you put on the box field provided:

http://www.powerdog.com/wepkey.cgi

6. On the Key field, Input the 128-bit key provided to you by the website.

(Disclaimer: All changes needs to be applied on all wireless devices connecting on your router)

On your PSP, go to Network Setting and try to connect again to your wireless network. Input the SSID, choose WEP and input Network Key once your PSP asks. No need to change any other settings, just press X until you save the setting. Test your connection and if it still says connection timed out, it means that the network key is incorrect. Just Type in the correct netwrok key and test again.

I hope that helps and here's a tip on how to protect your wireless network to avoid your neighbor from leeching on your network:

Thanks for all the advice guys. I finally got the wireless running on it earlier today. Only thing is it keeps complaining about not having enough memory and wont let me download flashplayer on it. What do I need to set up on it to be able to get on youtube and what not??? lol, it's really frustrating. And as for the memory, I got a 2GB card, shouldn't that be more than enough?

You can't get on youtube on the PSP, no matter how big a memory card you use, at least without stuff were not allowed to talk about here. Try PSPube.com, it has alot of youtube videos and you can download them directly off your PSP.

I've never heard of that site. I've been looking for a site where I can download videos too!

Thanks!
How did you figure out so much about the PSP wireless?

I'm glad that your wireless is working now. In terms of your PSP complaining not having enough memory, on your PSP browser, go to TOOLS -> SETTINGS -> VIEW SETTINGS -> CONSERVE MEMORY -> OFF .

I hope that helps.

I think that the sites that are too big or have to use too much flash memory can't be accessed on the PSP's browser, it doesn't have enough flash memory.

And it's called PSPube.com

Yeah, mine isn't the slowest but it's not too bad considering it's "on the go"

And yeah, I use the PSPube.com a lot but the only thing I have against that is it brings up a lot of porn when I'm looking up other things, lol. It's the only site that lets me download directly though.
