I have encountered a problem, or should I say annoyance, when playing my PS3. This is kind of hard to describe. When my PS3 is turned on, and after a bit of gaming, I encounter strange scrolling lines that scroll up my television set. I don't know if it is cause by the PS3 but when it is turned off the lines go away, I feel like its a very strange occurance. If you guys can shed some light on my issue that would be great.

Yeah once I switched to the cables that came with the PS3 they seemed to go away. They might still be be there and I have just gotten used to them. What kind of TV are you using? If it's an older one that might be your problem as well. That's why I will be upgrading my TV soon.

I use the same cables that came with my PS3. As of now I have 2-3 year old SDTV. Do you think I have a problem with my cables? Should I call Sony?

The scrolling lines you describe are also visible on my TV, maybe it's the television, maybe it's the cable.....thus the television. ...

change the ps3 to 480i mode.  restart it normally but as you do so hold the power button for 5 seconds until you hear the beep.  that should get rid of the problem

I have had that problem with my PS2 and PS3 while playing games in standard definition. It's just a problem that comes with composite cables and an interlaced picture. If your TV has component inputs (The TV should list it as YPbPr), then I highly suggest you get component cables so you can play with 480p (progressive scan).

Thank you, I am considering moving up to an HDTV when I have the money...but that will be awhile. Its just annoying when I am playing Oblivion for a couple of hours.

If you have cable TV try unplugging the cable line going into the TV and see if the lines go away.

I had the same problem. It's definitely a ground loop. Just get a 99cent adapter for your power cord. Problem solved
