I clean the PS3 once a month. I vacuum it with a low powered handheld vacuum (dustbuster). I think people can use the hose on a regular vacuum but just hold it little bit further away as long as you see the dust get sucked up. Then I wipe the PS3 with very lightly damp paper towel.
The controllers can be cleaned as well because it gets that grime and the "dead skin" from your hands on it. This doesn't have to be done that much but the controllers do get funky after a long time playing them. I use an old automatic toothbrush head to scrub the grime away. Very lightly dampen the toothbrush but not too much and make sure no water gets through the controller.
Lol, can't imagine how much dust has gottten inside your PS3!! But then again, it also depends on how dusty your house usually gets and how long you've had the PS3 for.As often as I clean the house...never.

Had it since the 250GB Slim launched with Uncharted 2...Wiped it down about twice in that time....and my house does get dusty.
what is this "low powered vacuum" garbage? i have a 1700 watt vacuum, attach the crevice tool to the hose, and hold it close to the vents... no harm has came to my system, ive been doing this since i got it 3 years ago

Well it makes since that if you use a vacuum that has a powerful suction that it could potentially loosen, or outright tear off some of the internal parts of the system. I'm sure that's the main reason they want you use a low powered vacuum.
I have a 2.7 volt hand vacuum with a built in crevice attachment to get the hard to reach areas, which I think will fit perfectly in the vents on my PS3. Is 2.7 volts considered high powered.

personally i think that is a physical impossibility. If soldered components can be ripped off the mainboard by a household vacuum, then there is something far worng with the construction. Anyway, all that aside, there is no reason you should not use a normal household vacuum to clean the vents, you're mad if you go an buy a dustbuster specifically for the ps3...imo
Lol, wow. It looks like none of your systems are gonna die anytime soon!Once a week, I vacuum (both systems) the entire surface and vents.

Usually once a week. But, I have a old 60GB that already died once so I'm trying to clean it as much as possible. So, Far its survived for 6 more months.
I don't really clean it at all. I just wipe dust off whenever there is too much.JasonDarksavioryea, same here.
