So my internet is going to be going slow for a few more days and i really want to play the res5 demo and i was worried that it would overheat. So i was going to keep it on for a while its looking at around 40 hours too long if so how long should the ps3 be on for at most ? (To the mods res5 needs a sticky)

I left my ps3 on for about 3 months straight once. I would play games, then when I went to bed, work, or just didn't use it, I would do folding@home. I leave it on for days at a time alternating between games, blu-ray, and folding@home.

Well if you have a seperate fan, not one in the PS3, one that you would use in Summer time or something like that, which plugs into the wall, then I would say position that behind the PS3 so it keeps it cooler than usual.

Unless I get carried away, I usually keep playing and my consoles on for at least 3 hours with hour breaks or so. I also like to open the windows or have a fan on just incase.

Yea leaving the PS3 on for three months doesn't hurt anything other than the electric bill.

I know a guy who has had his on since launch, over 2 YEARS!

He's either playing games or folding and he's never had a problem.

The PS3 is extremely well built so no need to worry about overheating:)

Am I reading these posts right or am I being a cabbage? People actually leave their PS3's ON (AS IN ON ON) for 3 months? Actually ON? Or just turned ON at the back but actual power turned OFF? ON for 3 months? ON ON? Or OFF and ON? actually ON? for 3 months? ON? as in playing games ON? as in fans being ON for 3 months? ON? that cant be right....ON????? for 3 months?????? lol

Yes.

Even if not 3 months, I have personally left mine on for just over 3 weeks straight (folding@home), and yes, it was ON, working hard doing calculations.

She still runs fine today :)

You can leave it on for as long as you want with no problems as long as it is ventilated.

I personally wouldn't leave it on for days at a time, what's the point? Although it seems safe enough.

Oh man.. Anyways, despite all thats been said, I think leaving it on exceptionally long just for the hell of it is a moronic idea. But for the TC, I'ts perfectly accpetable to leave it on for a couple days to get the demo. I wouldn't make a habit of it though.

my opinioin is don't keep your ps3 on for more than a few hours..... definately don't keep it on overnight.

i kept my ps3 on while i left for work (so it could download a bunch of demos i put in the queue).... i think i worked a 12 hour shift so it was on for like 13-14 straight hours (12 hr shift + time commutting). my ps3 had a game inside while i left it on.

when i got back my ps3 was broken, it wouldn't eject the game that was inside my ps3. i played around with my ps3 (turning it off and on, putting it in safe mode or whatever i read on the internet), i finally got my game out but then my ps3 would not accept any discs.

all this from leaving my ps3 on for too long (and having a game inside at the time).
