I wouldnt mind being a little slimmer haha..

Well anyways, for those of you that have a slim how is it? Everything working good? Ive yet to hear of some serious problems, like over heating or hardware failures...but it has only been out for like 3 weeks huh.. haha.

Well I just know Im getting one for sure very very soon, and I trust that the ps3 will run totally fine.

How is your slim treating you?

I love mine, runs super quiet, isn't a dust/scratch/fingerprint magnet, runs about the same as far as heat goes(never overheated though), processor runs about a half a second faster than my 80GB model did, nice form factor, sucks half the juice, all for the same performance. I'm extremely impressed, although I never used it however it should be noted that you cannot put Linux on the Slim. I could care less cuz Linux sucks anyway but to some people thats a deal breaker.

Yeah, everything's working well. It makes weird clicking noises when I start it up, I think someone else on these boards speculated it was the plastic expanding/contracting due to heat, which makes sense to me. I'm liking the games so far. I've been doing tons of Road to the Show in MLB 09, and finished Killzone 2 (not so hard, campaign was around 6 hours). That being said, the online is pretty spotty -- I've only tried to play 5-6 KZ2 matches, but I've been dropped in two of them so far.

I have the same clicking noises, and I hear them always. I got up the other day and the thing made clicking noises even before it was on, and had been off for a long time. But yes, I always had problems with my other 2 PS3's fans sounding like jet engines, and this SLIM is so quiet!!

I love that it is not so shiny black, and has the regular buttons instead of touch sensitive ones. I am having problems with games freezing up on me, but I actually think PS3's freeze all the time when you first get one. I am only saying this because this is my 3rd PS3, and all of them froze at first, but then just seem to all of a sudden not freeze ever again after a while. And I am expecting the clicking noises to stop too, but when they do, I am going to be worried. My last PS3 died shortly after I heard a real loud click of the same sort. Oh, and the SLIM is definitely hotter than my last 2 PS3's. It is about 9 inches from my wall and when you touch the wall, even after a short time, the wall is really hot.

It's pure awesomeness! It's quite, cool, and has a really nice smooth finish that doesn't attract dust. No Dust = No internal problems.

Huh? You do realize that the dust is still there, it just doesn't show up easily because it's not against a shiny black background right? Dust magnet doesn't literally mean it attracts dust, right? I highly doubt the SLIM has advanced dust-repulsing properties haha

A friend of mine is now on his 3rd 120Gb slim since launch-The first two broke with hard drive failure. He took 1st one back after only 3 weeks and 2nd one only lasted about 4-5 weeks and then died with same problem.

So far,so good with his 3rd console.

The slim is pretty awesome takes up less space, runs quiter. I would recomend this one to anyone whos looking for a new system. It's my second by the way since my 60gig got the YLOD a year ago.
