Help with Warhawk please

I can't seem to register my headset that came with the game.I try to click on Input Device under Audio Settings, but it will not allow me. Any help? Does the headset need to be plugged in via the usb to install or something?

I thought it was broken when I first got it also. I eventually got it right. :)
