I  just got a PS3 and it isn't accessing my internet I put in the ip and everything but it still says the connection failed. I have wired connection not wireless so I shouldn't have a weak signal

It's also stating that "An error occurred while resolving the name with the server (80710102)"

why are you doing it manually, let the PS3 do it I forgot what the two options were but I know for sure that one is wireless connection, well choose the other one you know then let the PS3 do all the work, or call Sony man they help a lot their unumber is in the white litle booklit the first page after you open it.

do you have dsl? if so, you have to manually put in the PPoE username and password

or just try reseting your modem.

Something like this happened to me the first time too.  Just go to network settings or whatever it was and choose wired connection and no proxy and the suck.  Then turn off the modem for like 10 seconds and turn back on so that it can reboot.  Do the same thing for the PS3 and it should work afterwards.

It kinda sounds like a DNS error. If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry about it. Just try to reset the network settings back to default, and let the PS3 find it dynamically. You're static settings might be screwing it up.
