I would like to know the HDD answer also. I'm down to 28GB left on my 40GB PS3 and I only 5 games and none of them requires installations, so I don't know what's taking up all the space. I don't have demos, videos, or photos on my PS3, only a few songs which takes up about 80MB. So yah a larger harddrive would be nice. I will make my decision when someone answers the HDD transfering question. I don't want to to lose all my game save datas.

- use an external HDD (must be FAT32 I think)

- if you can narrow the things you want to keep (= there are lots things you can re-download, some are on your PC ...) get a big USB key

i think you should go with the 40 gb hard drive . it would take a long time to fill that up. Just prioritize a little.
