I just bought God of War Sage and I was wondering if it would be better to play the games in order of release date, or in order in which the game story happens

Well it goes Chains of Olympus, God of War, Ghosts of Sparta, God of War 2, God of War 3. I dno if you've never played them its hard to say, just because for me God of War 2 is my favourite, but they're all good games. So you might as well just play them in proper order.

I would play them in the order they were released. The story isn't that hard to comprehend where you should feel the need to start at the "beginning."

But he's buying all of them at once, makes no sense to tell him not to play them in chronological order..?

I'm not saying he can't do it, but it's half a dozen to one, six to the other type of thing (i.e. same difference). Playing in chronological order doesn't add anything to the games you aren't going to experience playing them as they were released anyway. Would you agree with that?

I got the God of War saga and played through 1-3 first. Now it's kinda harder to get into the PSP ones because they're not as good as the console ones so I would suggest playing through in chronological order or at least the two psp ones before you start the trilogy.

haha yes I agree. So if there's no difference, might as well play in order, right? =)

It doesn't really matter, the storylines in the games aren't really very deep so it shouldn't impact your enjoyment if you play them out of order.
