Interesting question. Ive had mine for over a year now.
At first I was going to get an Xbox ( I had owned the original xbox before), but then I decided to get a PS3 since it did more and I never had a PS2 (back ten PS3s had backwards compatibility). Its been a blast ever since. I treated it like a baby the first few weeks lol.
i felt like i was 7 years old again and i was unboxing my firstps1. its alwayz a good feeling to get a new playstation and think about the hours upon hours of entertainment that it will bring :D
I've had mine for about 4 months. I immediately loved; the games I bought ( graphics stc.), the Online Play, and the upconverting DVD player is fantastic.
It is also pretty slick looking, the wirelesss is very cool, the ability to stream pics, music, and movies is nice also.
I dont really remember it as being anything special sadly, I just didnt find it to have the magic the PS2 had, maybe its because im older now, but I absolutely cant remember anything ill remember about it 10 years down the road, but when I got my Wii Xmas 06 1 year before the PS3, I was really excited.... strange :S
I remember taking it out of the box and setting it on the table. Then I started unwrapping it from the padded paper and I was like "Oh my god, it's upside down!"
Actually I wasn't terribly impresses at first. I worked my butt off for two months to save up for it, and then the first game I got was Turok, which absolutely sucked. Since then I've gotten a bunch of other games like Motorstorm Pacific Rift and Dead Space. I'm absolutely loving it now :D
How did it feel when I first received my PS3 you ask? Well, let me tell you, it changed my life. The depression and anxiety that was once in my life melted away as soon as I started it up and heard the short, but heavenly,symphonic music. After just hours of playing, my low self-esteem vanished and I regained my confidence. I noticed that my glasses became blurry all of a sudden and I removed them and was astonished...my vision was corrected from the beauty of the PS3 graphics. Lastly, I noticed that my testicles descended even though they already had many years ago...though I believe this to be a medical issue unrelated...

LMAO!!! For me the feeling was more of a "God please don't let my wife kill me when she sees this!" I had been saving for it, and planned on trading in my PS2... but when I got it (MGS4 Bundle) I couldn't resist getting NCAA Football 09 too. Well this put me over my budget... the wife was none too pleased. The good news is that I'm still alive and well... and I'm playing my PS3 just about everyday after work.
Ugh... I want one so bad! Probably for christmas! I need to save money,STAT.
Idk tho, i already own a 360 but want to get internet for some online gaming...so its either a ps3 and no net, or internet and ps3 a bit later (like march for GOD OF WAR III baby yeah!)

Its great (the console). But i feal horribly lonely all the time =( Anytime i blow some guys head off in Killzone 2 i feal only half the fun, cuz i cant talk to one of my m8s and brag about it :P

On topic: I felt great. Finally nice to game on NEXT generation console with awesome games.
i was scared to touch it... then i did, and i put a great big finger print on it... then i turned it on... and it was so silent compared to my old 360... I thought it wasn't working... Great console...
At first I thought it was unbelivable that I had one. I must have saved up for for a PS3 for a while and I finally got one. 'Till this day I'm grateful I have it, PS3 FTW!!!:D:D
i got it for x mas and my dad hid it in the closet and made me hunt it down...i didnt know it was that but kinda had an idea...it was such a fun day of hooking it up with my fam and getting it up and running for the fiirst time taking turns with MotorStorm....thats right 80 GB with BC....and this was before i had a router so yeah i didnt get that until around when i got COD4 which was my third game i bought(i believe)
