Favourite horror series?

I know I've missed some, but here are my favourites, so if you could kindly choose from one of them, thanks :)

wow, nobody has ever asked me to choose between Silent Hill and Doom... My head nearly exploded... It was like I discovered the meaning of life...

Too bad Dead Space only has one game for now. But oh well, Silent Hill series.

im going with FEAR since it was my first game i got and it scared me to even look around corners in my hut...swear to god alma is haunting my hut now :S

Dead space beats em all. But I'll give it to F.E.A.R. for atmosphere.

Dead space was scary... for the first 2 levels after that it was just jumpy not scary, where as with the OLD resident evils i never once felt relaxed while running round in the dark even with my girl friend in the room i still shat my self each and every second where as with dead space after the first few creatures playing dead i just yawned

I would have chose Dead Space but wasn't there so I chose Resident Evil.

Alone in the Dark! Where is that? So I choose Doom.

As soon as Dead Space becomes a series, that.

EDIT: There's that version on WII called Extraction Point or something, so I vote Dead Space now.

F.E.A.R. is the only game out of these that i would call horror, all the others just try and startle you.

definitely silent hill. the older resident evils were good too.

Condemned for sure. I doubt a 3rd one is gonna be made but it would be like heaven for me.

The reason I choose Condemned over all other horror games is because I have never been into zombies, creatures/monsters etc.

Condemned takes you into creepy and realistic environments, forcing you to fight your way through crazed people. I know later the enemies change a little (more unrealistic) but they're all still some form of human. It's just so different. I love the atmosphere, the sounds and the eeriness it had. I never got that in other horror games. They were all too horror-like

I know later the enemies change a little (more unrealistic) but they're all still some form of human. It's just so different. I love the atmosphere, the sounds and the eeriness it had. Yeah. It's just that Bloodshot didn't do as well as the first. It was average at best. Some gave it a good score, but hey - it's a sequel.

Condemned 3: Freaky Times.

Fatal Frame sucked! In your opinion it was good, but you can't expect everywhere you go on horror forums to see that PS2 crap up everywhere

Yeah, I'm sure they'll do another one. Monolith have finished FEAR 2, so maybe they will start on the 3rd (or maybe FEAR 3) :)

RESIDENT EVIL ALL THE WAY!!!... I like Bioshock and Half-Life too...(If they are considered as horror games..)

This is in order of horror games I have enjoyed:

1) Resident Evil (while 4 and 5 was a complete change of pace there was moments where I jumped a bit)

2)Silent Hill (I have all of the games (baring the arcade game) and its interesting to see them during the progression of the series however nearly 10 years later Silent Hill 1 is one of the games which still feels me dread in some points.

3) Doom (or more so Doom 3) can be one of the creepest FPS out there using the ablity to switch between Torch and weapon in a darkend room, you think it's clear. Then you hear a clank turn 180 and there is an imp looking at you in the face always made me jump a mile.

4) The Siren Games - The natural progression of horror games and also the whole sight jacking feature is cool.

However I do think Dead Space is a great and scary game. I have high hopes for when the sequal is released

I don't understand why people think dead space is scary and fear, they are more likely to make you jump but not really scare you, the early horror games e.g. resident evil they had the atmosphere that kept you on the edge of your seat. Doom 3 is a horror game because it does a good job of draging you into the atmosphere and making you drop your load out the back. Because it does both unlike fear and dead space that just makes you jump

Condemned (the first one) scared me frequently. I don't get scared easily and am far from squeamish. Condemned rocked my world. The environments were downright freaky. The abandoned mall haunted my dreams for weeks.

I thought Dead Space was good except it's very overrated. I found it repetive, not that scary, and even a little boring.

Anyways my favorite horror series is Resident Evil Series.
