When i forked out $100 for my Dualshock 3, I expected it to work. But after a few months of using it, it just wouldn't turn on. It just stopped. Occaisonally, when I plug it into the PS3 via USB, like you would to charge it, it works for a minute or two, but then stops again. Does anybody know how I can fix it or what's wrong with it?

Is the USB faulty? Does it work with a different one?

The controller may be defective, I'm not sure why it would act like that.

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem with my DualShock 3. When connected to the USB port, it will switch off every time the controller rumbles. I just have to press the PS button to turn it back on, but it's pretty anoying. Oddly, this won't happen if the controller is unplugged. I think it's the rumble function what's doing it.

I've tried restarting the controller (tiny button on the back), turning off the console, turning the rumble function on and off, ... Nothing seems to work.

Did you find a solution to this issue?

I had a similar problem. unless you are using a SONY made usb cable, the dualshock 3 will not charge. A regular USB cable will charge an older Siaxis....just not a dualshock 3.

thats odd, im using my cyber shot usb on my DS3 and it works. the other cable is too short, so i usually leave it to charge my mic, but any ubs should be fine.

$100 for a dualshock 3 controller???

Vicius

my thoughts exactly. umm, try taking it apart and making sure the battery is all the way plugged in. Just remove the screws and take the back off. You don't need to go farther than that. that was my problem once. the rumble jiggled the battery and it got unplugged

Damn that is pricey. Ebay is your friend. Even if you have to pay double on the shipping you will still only spend about $50-$55.

Just buy a new one then. I had two dualshocks screwed up. They still work but the facebuttons are unresponsive, the L's and R's oversensative, and the face buttonsget "sticky" when you press them down.

It is very odd, I called up the place i got it at, They told me to bring in my whole system. We had no clue why my siaxis would register as charging and the dualshock 3 wouldn't. Then a random customer came in and said try using a Sony made USB cable. We did and there was no problem. I however must agree with you and correct myself by saying not all USB cables are compatible with the dualshock 3.

Don't throw your controller when you die anymore. Problem fixed lol.
