downloading games to ps3

OK so I bought a PS3 recently (great decision) because my xbxox broke like 7 times. Been really satisfied with it except I've had some problems with Fallout 3. So I was wondering... can you download games to the PS3 hard drive like you can with the xbox?

No, just look at the Playstation store, if there are no PS3 games then obviously you can't. But you can download PS1 classics.

However if it's "install the game" to the ps3 hard drive you meant not download, then yes. Some game when you first play them you may see it saying installing game and a loading bar. that's what it's doing, installing it to your hard drive.

It depends on the game. Either games will automatically install the game when you boot it up, or you have to install it manually at the title screen. Some games don't feature an install feature though.

And while some games have optional/mandatory installs, you will still need the disc to play.
