It's a ripoff !! I just went to Eb Games and X Planet with two of my PS3 games and I was hopeing it will be enough if I trade them in to get a game ( Splinter Cell DA. But guess what......at EB Games the guy told me he's gonna give me $36 for the two and the guy at X Planet said $38. You got to be jokeing with me. I Payed $65 for each game. $130 total. I would loose a lot of money if I trade them in. No thanks I rather keep them and have them just because. I'm outraged about this! I advise everyone to keep your games even if you don't like them because these stores will give you like $15 ea. and than re-sell them for $49.99
Yea this generation of consoles... trading in games doesnt seem worth it. I mean when they are adding downloadable stuff for a game why bother trading it in, its one heck of a hassle heh.
And this surprised you? How much did you think they were going to give you? That's how they make their profits. They make zilch off the sale of new stuff.
If you want to make more money sell them on eBay for $35 each.
unless the game is uber popular you will never get a good amount of money for trade ins! tho! when i traded in south park 64 along time ago i get 50 bucks for it! that was the most i have ever gotten for a single game
I remember last gen I bought Prince of Persia and tried to trade it in like a week after it's release and the guy was gonna give me like 5$. I hate ebgames their such a rip off.

Have you never sold a game at EB Games before. That is how they work. You could sell them a game the day it is released and only get 50% of its value. Wait just a couple weeks and you're probably down under 40%.

That blows! So no buybacks at all then, I take it. That sucks. They're so new to the biz, they don't even know how to ripp you off as well as their competition. If I can, I always go through BBuster for trade ins because they give you a whole lot more than anybody else.
I suggest go to Blockbuster.. When i go to ebgames.. They only give me 32 for that game.. and i decided to not sell it to ebgames.. One thing i think of is... BLOCKBUSTER!? Let's try! and they gave me about 42 dollars for ps3 game! which is better than ebgames ! ! !

thats the same thing i do like the other day i traded Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and got 35 bucks for it and i only paid 10 when i bought it like 2 months ago LOL PROFIT!
oh and i bought it from them so i feel happy that i actually ripped them off for once HAHA

Eb and gamestop have the worst trade in policy ever....They will give you $15 for a game and then turn around and resell it for $44.99.
So far I have found that FYE believe it or not has the best trade in policy followed closely by blockbuster. At FYE they usually give you around $36 for newer games, and decent deals on DVD trade in's also, but the best part about FYE is at the end if you are getting store credit over cash they throw another 20% on top of your total and give you a gift card....
I would have taken $2 for my copy of madden 07.... But seriously I traded in madden 07 and a ton of PS2 games at gamestop and got motorstorm and Street Homecourt for free!
Its about the demand, sadly there just isnt a whole lot of demand for PS3 games. Some DS games they will give you $25 for example cause demand is much higher. They dont care what it retails for, they care if they can sell it or not.
i gotta say, when it comes to console, i usually rent most of my games. Blockbuster, rogers here in canada get weekly rentals. For 1 week i can rent games for around 8-10 bucks, and if i want another week i can get it again and its still alot cheaper than buying. Play the games like crazy, and then be done with them. I usually only buy some of the big name games, i dont understand why people like buying games so much.
i'm surprised no one mentioned Game Trading Zone. Why trade in a game when you can trade it to someone else for the game you wanted to get in the first place and only have to pay the shipping cost?
The person (or people, I didn't read all the posts) that suggested Ebay has a valid point. I decided to do just that when I bought Def Jam: Icon and realized it was nothing like the other 2 games. Severely disappointed, I decided to trade the game in within just 2 hours of owning it. I knew that Gamestop/EB would give me $35 for the trade so I decided to post it up on Ebay. I sold the game for $46 (including shipping costs) It may be only a $10 difference...but thats a $10 difference! I sold it allowing paypal payment only, so I got the money immediately and used that money on Ebay to buy other games. It's worth it to me.
Over here in the UK we have GAME and they take old games and resell them.
It was announced last summer that 68% of GAMES profits were from re-selling pre-owned titles whereas the other 32% was from selling brand new hardware and games etc.
That goes to show you how much money a company is making from buying your old games and selling them on!
Last month my Gamestop had a promo trade any 2 PS3 games in for 1 new one. That wasn't too bad. I traded Genji and NFS:Carbon for Motorstorm and still have $6 in credit.
I guess thats why it pays to buy only good (really good) titles. That way you wont want to trade them in. Although ive had alot of success selling used games on ebay and getting more money for them especially when compared to eb games.
I had an unopened Jak X (it came free with my PS3) tried to trade it in and EB said 1$ was all I was going to get. Whats funny is it still had the $49.99 price tag on it, meaning the 2 weeks it spent in a cupboard in my basement some how lead to a devalue of 98%.
