Old news for some I'm sure, but I haven't seen anyone's actual opinion on this here. In short, a Russian composer created a song in 1974 that was mighty close to the MGS2 theme we all know and love and Konami wanted no risk of a lawsuit, so MGS4 did not have the theme. So what do you think? Stolen or coincidental?

Nah I dont think so... Maybe he had heard the tune somewhere and rehashed it in this way by accident but I cant imagine that it was really stolen. So in my oppinion coincidental

WTF does Konami have anything to do with this TC? Harry Gregson Williams a hollywood composer independently handled the score for MGS2 so Konami has nothing to do with HGW plagiarising.

It's too bad the Russian guy didn't make a great game to go with it.

Either way, it wouldn't be Kojima's fault, it would be Williams'. He composed the music.

But he has a good track record of movies he's composed for, sooo..

Chill out.

It's not like Symphony said that Konami stole, he just said that they didn't want to get sued.

He was only stating facts.

You can never be sure, but in all likelihood, it's a coincidence.

Well it's defenitely a coincedence. I bet HG Williams wouldn't do such thing intentionally, if he knew whos the original composer. I stick to the version, where HG just suddenly started to whistle this tune to himself and hadn't got a clue why. So he decided to write the whole thing down and thought that he just composed it by himself, while in fact he just overheard it somewhere and the damn tune just stuck to him.
