Do firmware updates really crash PS3s or is it certain fanboys starting rumours?

Every time a firmware update comes out we all see the topics that "2.** crashed my PS3" etc, but to be honest, I may be completely wrong but loads of my mates have got PS3's and not one has had any problems when updating, and we all have a mixed spec (60 gigs, 80 gigs, 40 gigs) etc. So when people blame it on a certain spec I can honestly say none of my mates have encountered problems.

So I have come to this drastic solution as to where the "reports" come from:

"the other console" fanboys!!! trying to wreck the PS3's image and sales because they know that......

2009 is going to be the year of the PS3 baby!!!!!!!!

I know there was a lot of trouble with firmware 2.40, that bricked a whole bunch of PS3's. I doubt any of it is fanboys starting rumours. Sony should be more professional with these updates or just not have so damn many.

Fortunately my updates have been fine... but its normally me who "breaks" my PS3 by trying to install Yellow Dog on it or mess around with the partitioning of the drive... No smoke without fire, but it could of been exaggerated by fanboys

updates are fine, 99.9 percent of ps3s do perfect with updates, its usually when updates fail due to loss of power or restart during update, or even overheating.

None of my updates have broken my PS3 so I'm not complaining.

The only firmware trouble came from download 2.40 which Sony admitted to and pulled from its download base. Other than that, there has been no problems.

Never have experienced a single problem with the firmwares, nor have any of 13 friends with PS3's. Even the dreaded 2.40 went smoothly. Im not going to go so far as to say Sony cant make mistakes, but I sure haven't seen any.

Question. If an update fails to download successfully, how would you delete it?
