Well I got the update 2.50 yesterday and was playing COD4 for a few hours, it kept dropping out after each match and suddenly my PS3 turned off by itself. I still have that red light of death on my PS3 (flashing red light), tried to factory reset it, turned it off overnight, tried some other things too but none of them worked.

Is it Just me or does anyone else have the same problem? Your reply will be appreciated.

BTW my PS3 is 60GB.

I'm not disputing that you have a problem with your PS3 but I kinda doubt it was the upgrade. i've been playing my PS3 all day with the upgrade and haven't experienced one problem. I have a 60g. That's just me though. I guess we'd have to get input from a lot of people.

My 60gb works fine after the update except for a couple missing features. One is that the new last time signed in thing doesn't show on my friend list. Another problem is that when I txt stuff using the multiple letters to a button style, it really slows down on me now if that makes any sense. You'd have to see yourself to understand. Anyways, other than that it works fine. I'm pretty pissed about the signed in thing though.

My 60 GB PS3 definitely had problems with the update.

it was working fine prior to it. After the download and a resart the screen is black and nothing will come up.

Overheating causes PS3 to auto-shut down... red blinking light that won't allow you to play it 'til it cools off.

Try a force. I think you just hold your thumb over the right button for like 10 or 15 seconds, Intill it shuts off, and then restart. Or you may just hold it till it shuts off, not sure? Or if its off, do it till its on "look it up to make sure?" Its something to that extent.

My bf Kevin decided that he would rather buy a whole new PS3, a newer model with the newer RSX/Cell chips that run cooler and stuff ( We did call Sony and they were helpful though, so no complaints on that side. ) Thanks for your help and suggestion though guys :)

The red blinking light is, as already stated, to do with overheating. It happened to a friend of mine and his PS3 never worked afterward so he had to get a replacement.

Yup, The guy on the phone said that its possible the heat that built up may have messed something up internally. And even though there is no Warranty Sticker on it, they WOULD fix it ( If we paid of course ) So im happy with Sony, he just decided to get a new PS3.
