Last night I stumbled across a neat thing with my PS3. It might be old news to some (all?) of you but I thought I'd share it for people whodon't know it yet.

When you play your music (I'm using media server w/ TVersity), you can tap the PS button, which brings you back to the XMB. From there you can browse the internet, run a slideshow w/ your jpeg, etc. Tapping the PS button brings you back and forth to the music player and the place you've been. This allows you to skip over your collection of mp3s/music files.

So you can basically run a slideshow with background music, or browse the internet while listening toyour song collection. Kind of like a PC, but better! Because it's your PS3 and it's hooked to your big screen TV and sound systems (presumably).

Perhaps it's common knowledge but it's new to me.

I wonder if this is true for PSP as well, I have to try it out.

LOL! So all this time I've been lamenting about how I could do other things w/ the PS3 while playing mp3s(w/o having to stare at the music player's screensaver) for nothing?

Now if only Sony releases an e-book reader on the PSP (instead of homebrews), sitting on the john would be more enjoyable.

when you're listening to music on the psp, and you press the home button and then try to go on the internet "or do anything else", the music will just stop......so i think this is a new thing for the ps3 :)

It would be cool if you could listen to music while your in the PS store but what would be even better is if we could get some games to play our music (GTA 4, Burnout, ex.)

as mentioned before if you try to browse the web while listening to music on the psp, the music shuts off. i thought this was the same for the ps3. i knew you could multitask music and pictures, but i didn't think the music would stay one when you got online.

thanks for the notice.

Yeah, I don't know what happens when you go to webpages that have sounds in them (like Virgin radio or youtube). I tried it with wikipedia last night.

i read a link from the playstation forums that hints that sony might doing an update about the time E3 starts that allows for in game xmb access. whether this will add music in game is still up in the air.
