Can the Ps3 play AVI files yet?

As the thread name says i would like to know if the Ps3 is able to play AVI files yet or not?

some avi files work...ive been watching heaps of movies and tv eps. just put a avi file onto a usb and put it in and see if it comes up.

all my AVI files show pictures whenI browse through them like they are supposed to work, but when I try to play them, it says file corrupted.

Ignore the previous two posts. The answer is yes. There was a firmware update yesterday that allowed for this. See here. AVI files use divX encoding. Just connect the the net. Download the firmware. Install and your good to go.
