Can my PS3 play my ps2 games?

i have an 80 gb ps3 and i wanna know if i can play san andreas on it, i know playing a ps2 game on the ps3 kind of defeats the purpose but im curious

Then yes your PS3 can play about 75% of the PS2 library.Some games you might have problems but you can play alot of them.

If he got the Metal gear solid 4 bundle than yeah he can play PS2 titles on his PS3.The MGS4 bundle had a original 80 gig in it.

Hell yea! I was playing MVP Baseball 2004 and SSX ON TOUR last night ... SINCE SSX OBVIOUSLY ISN'T COMING OUT FOR PS3 = GARBAGE!

thanks alot guys i didnt want to just risk putting a ps2 game in their and then screw up my ps3, but would i have to restart all my games since i cant put my memory card anywhere?

you know what i think keeping a memory card for ps3 wouldve been a good idea

you dont need a memory card...the ps3 can set up an internal one for you using the hard drive....i dont understand that about Sony....some of the new PS3's dont play PS2 or PSX games but i have one of the first PS3's i got it the week it came out and i have no problem playing FF7, FF8, MGS, FFX (big square fan) and my all time figher favorite Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.

well i mean if there was a memory card i wouldnt have to restart everything on my ps2 game and lets say i wanted to go to a friends house then i could bring a memory card and all

I think they make a card reader that plugs in via USB, but I've never actually seen one...
