I was planing on buying a 60 gb ps3(219.99) or a 250 gb slim(199.99). First off which one would you get and why? and also how does gamestop refurbish the consoles? One person said they send them back into Sony. Another person said that they have their own warehouse where they refurbish the consoles.

Spend the extra $50 and get a 160gb PS3 slim. I wouldn't trust a refurbished console, just because of the plain fact of it being refurbished! A used game is one thing, but an entire console, especially the older PS3 fat models you can't guarantee will work 100% down the road.

I would see if they have a warranty on them. If they do and it's a good warranty it might be worth the buy.

Gamestop refurbish? = pimple faced teenager checking if a game starts up in an "old ylod effected, chopper sounding" ps3 and then cleaning the console with a paper towel and windex in the backroom. "That will be $220 please."

I would rather spend $250 for a brand new ps3 with sony warranty. There is a long list why to go with a new slim ps3 and can be found in the other billion similar threads asking which is better.

buy the 250gb slim. it's just newer hardware.

I bought a 40gb ps3 fat refurbished over 2 years ago and it hasn't had one problem. so i would say the refurbished ps3's are safe to buy, but buy the warranty just in case.

Do not trust used consoles. They tend to be dirty and not in great condition. A really sexy deal is the Infamous 2 Bundle Pack. You can get a 320 GB PS3 with Infamous 2 for 299. Not a bad deal. And you get a free month of Playstation Plus.

i dissagree, i was going to buy that bundle but think about it,

a 160gb ps3 brand new is 250, i bought the 160 gb and resistance 3 for a little over 300, the same price as th infamous bundle

and lets be honest resistance 3 is much better than ifamous 2

Trust and gamestop shouldn't even be used in the same sentence, unless accompanied by "no", "not" or "never".

i wouldn't. for hardware, always buy new. if you're spending that much money on a system, its not much more to get one you know will last.

Agreed, buy new. Just had a YLOD with my old 40G fat model. Paid the 99 dollars to Sony only to receive a broken refurbished unit in return. Called their tech support and they refused to believe that the video issues I was having was related to their refurbished system and it was MY HDMI cable or receiver. Said screw it and purchased a new 160G slim for 250 and guess what Sony, no problems what so ever. Spend the extra 50 just so you don't have to deal with these headaches.

I never trust refurbish consoles although my fiance's brother bought a refurbish PS3 recently and he has yet to have any issues. So I suppose if you really can't put the extra 50 up then go for it but try to get a new one

You must be new to Gamestop if you're asking yourself this question.

I like the sense of having something brand new. So no I would not get a used model.
