Blu-Ray issue with PS3 games.. plzz help

i have a odd problem with my blu-ray drive it seems to play blu-ray movies fine, but for some reason it doesntreadPS3 games. when i put the disc in it comes up with the loading icon in the top right corner, then it goes away with noread of any game in the games section on the XMB.

Nope,laser going poof.The way the ps3 checks the discs directory and data structure is different for games and movies,and errors show up first in either one,depending on which 'way' the laser is failing(i.e. can run for longer but is out of focus,or is somewhat in focus but cant run for long without malfunctioning due to heat and such).Either way its toast.You can try to replace it yourself,or get it fixed for 150 from sony.I fixed mine.

Totally serious with this one, CHECK YOUR LOCAL CRAIGSLIST for PS3 repair. Don't send it to Sony, it'll take forever. There could be a PS3 specialist in your area who can fix it in a day. My PS3 jsut died (YLOD) the other day, and I got it fixed the next day by a PS3 specialist in Los Angeles for $90.

It's totally up to you though. But yeah, sounds like the Lazer is done.

Ok at the moment i have taken the system restore route to see what happens, thankyou all for your input, and will let u know of the result
