I'm buying a bluetooth headset soon, and I was wondering if anyone here experiences lag when they use theirs.

I used to have a second hand bluetooth that I got for free from a friend (he found it at the casino he works security at) and it was pretty ok. Only problem was that whenever I used it, my online would start lagging.

In CoD4, the second I opened up my bluetooth, my connection status would go from 3 green bars to red.

My question is, what kind of headset do you have and do you experience any lag when you play with it turned on?

I'm thinking of going with the Official Sony Bluetooth, but I read a Wal Mart review and the guy said it lagged his internet connection. While I do realize it's just one person, I can't help but hesitate about buying it.

I also use the official Sony headset and there is no lag.

I would also like to add, why the hell would you read any review posted at Walmart? I don't know about the Walmarts around where you live, but here, the only people that shop at Walmart are fat republicans and hicks.

Yeah, that seems to be the common joke nowadays... Walmart is the new K Mart when it comes to country hick relation. It's different over here, because of all the housing developments. They tear down trees, build an upper middle class neighborhood and then Walmart drops a store in the middle.

Anyway, like I said, it's only one person, but I'm hesitant because there's a chance I could buy the official headset and have the exact same problem as he did.

Pretty much anywhere will accept a return on the headset if you are experiencing any problems while using the headset, regardless of what the offending device is.

When developers program their games, they work directly with the official Sony headset, thus you should get the best possible performance from this device.

Both Bluetooth and WLAN can co-exist. Since Bluetooth devices use Frequency Hopping and most WLANs use Direct Sequence Spreading techniques they each appear as background noise to the other and should not cause any perceivable performance issues.

There a few tweeks if you have lag in the router settings that helps a lot or sometimes completely fixs the problem. I use wi-fi but it took a while to finally get the settings that worked best and set the PS3 at a spot that had the stongest signal. My wi-fi signal stays between 90 and 100 %. You gotta experiment with wi-fi to get the best signal.

I have a Plantronics 510 Voyager and it works great with every game, except CoD4. When I used it on there, I would lag uncontrollably. It took me awhile to figure out why I would get owned so badly when I played with friends but I did really well when i played alone. Turns out it was because I only used my mic when I played with friends.

Honestly though, get a USB mic. I use my bluetooth for my phone now and just have a basic GigaWare USB Headset. No lag, and sounds better (both input and output). They are alot cheaper as well

You can connect the Sony mic to your PS3 via USB, but I can't imagine why you'd want to tether yourself to the console.

Yeah because I would host matches by myself with no mic and just about about would have perfect connection. I turned on my mic to test it and within 5 seconds everyone started lagging and and got connection interrupted. It wasn't always that way. It was after Infinity Ward stop giving us dedicated servers. Because of that I switched to a USB mic
