I don't have a 40GB, so I can't use the fan test (but Sony confirmed recently that doing this too much can be dangerous). Using compressed air I assume is the best way to clean it, but how and where should you use this?

On a more serious note I have heard of people using Turtle Wax (The same for vehicles) on their PS3. Apparently it also helps in repelling the dust as well as buffs out the little scratches.

If you've one of those vacuums with a brush tool, I would suggest using that. A sony rep recommended I try doing that instead of compressed air because they have to void warranty if you use compressed air. At first I thought he was total daft, but I decided "what the hell?" and gave it a shot with my PS2. Strangely enough, it did work. :o

Two things.

1. The 360 belongs there, not the PS3 :P

2. Your using the wrong slogan. "Set it and forget it" is for this

For serious, using a vacuum cleaner on low to medium is the best way to clean your PS3 without causing damage

There isn't a day goes by that there isn't a post about something that could easily be answered by opening something that's supplied with the console...that thing is the mythical INSTRUCTION MANUAL. In it, it says to use a low powered vaccuum on the vents. Seriously people, instruction manuals are great crapper reading and it doesn't take all that long to browse through them. Companies provide them with their product for a reason, you know.
