Bayonetta and other Femme Fatales

Well. Yes I am playing Bayonetta for the first time. And I have to say I'm very very impressed. I dabble in a variety of games...keeps me interested. I've played Heavenly Sword and thought that was really good too! Yes my point: What do you guys think of the sexy protagonist versus the alpha male? Personally, I like kicking a** with a sexy chick. So what do you think?

Also, if it please you: What other femme fatale protagonists have you enjoyed kickin' a** with? :)

I don't prefer the sexy female or the alpha male both those are really generic and boring. I want a main character with a lot of depth, a character with a rich background, and a personality all of its own regardless of sex.

I agree. i mean it is fun to watch them beat peoples asses but i does not make them attractive.

^^^This. Bad characters are bad characters regardless of how hot and sexythey are. Based on character alone Nathan Drake is better than Lara Croft but we'll see if that changes based on the new Lara Croft game. I actually despise what the industry does to the female gender in videogames. As much eye candy as it is play as Nariko or Bayonetta I find it sad and pathetic that developers resort to such tactics in order to ensure sales. This is why I think Mirror's Edge is such an awesome game, cause the protagonist is actually realistic in appearance.

I prefer playing as a male character.

For hack and slash games and fast pace action I prefer females. For in-depth and serious atmosphere games I prefer males. For example, in Dragon Age I prefer to play as a female, not just because the character model looks better but I simply find it "cooler." Which goes along with the Femme Fatale concept.

As for serious games, best examples would be Agent 47 (Hitman), Tidus (FFX), Adam Jensen (Deus Ex). No offence to any female, but I find that male characters create a more mature and dramatic atmosphere (especially if associated with a tragic story).

It depends on the game. And imo, Bayonetta isn't sexy...
