Bargain bin surprise.

So I was at the grocery store to buy groceries, seriously. But that's the type of huge grocery store where you have electronics and pharamacy and clothes, but it's still mainly a grocery (I don't know how you call that kind of superstore in English...).

Anyways, I went to the bargain bin and saw that :

I was kinda shocked, so I went and verify on the shelves with the locked up games if it was a mistake. It is, all the other UC2s of the store were at the normal MSRP, 59.99$.

Have you ever seen something like it? I mean, maybe it happens a lot and I simply haven't witnessed it yet. Anyways, do you have similar stories to share?

Well I didn't put the price on it. I honestly expected 59.99$ to show up when they scanned it. It didn't.

That means one dude has registered that very copy of the game for 9.98$ in the store's network.

Still, pretty funny.

well, he obviously doesn't live in America. retail stores in different countries deal with their goods differently so i don't think he made this up.

PS. I bought Far Cry (for pc) for about 7 dollars in a similar superstore in Taipei. it cost at least 20 back then.

:o Did you buy the game and get the $9.98 price? I had a similar experience at Best Buy a couple of years back. I was making preparations for a road trip to Disneyland and I wanted some games to keep me busy during the drive. I find a DS game I wanted on sale for $14.99. I go to the cashier to pay and they tried to charge the full price. I say "It says $14.99 on the sticker!" Cashier got the manager and I got a game I wanted for $14.99

happens sometimes but i never put the sticker on because then I know I would be stealing and the guilt would kill meGeneralHawx

With a deal like that you have to buy the game on principle. And then trade it in to GameStop or something or sell it if you have it already.

Meh, I guess that's a decent deal. :P

Some places will sell you what its for on the box using override. The person at the cash register probably knows no different and would rather avoid an angry person by just giving it to them for the price shown.

I sure have, in my local Walmart. I've found the MGS4 Limited Edition in the bargain bin for $20 (not $19.99, $20.) The Greatest Hits was in the cabinet for $29.99. Then just last week I was sifting through the bargain bin and found Killzone 2 for $7.99, also in the cabinet for the usual $29.99. Twas awesome.

The store's name is Maxi & Cie, it exists only in the Province of Quebec, but it's part of the President's Choice supermarket chain.

Similarly, I found Resistance 2 for 19.99 a while back, maybe two months after its release at Walmart. It was an error but the dude didn't have a choice. I bought the game then sold it for 40 bucks the day after. Now it can be found for 25 or less almost anywhere.
