I AM SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!

My freeking PS3 has been acting up for the last2 weeks. Everytime I start a game, I would play it for about 15-20 minutes and the fan turns into a lawn mower. I dont understand why. I bearly played my PS3 this month cuz I have been too busy with school since Im graduating in like 4 weeks. But sirously is there anything I could do? It has plenty of free space around it, there no dust inside it,I did thhe fan test like 2 times to see if itdoes anytihing.I get so mad everytime this happens, I just turn up the volume and keep on playing, and it doesnt stop, I would be playing for hours on end with the fan loud as heck. It first started with GOW3, it happen like 2 times but it would only last for like 5 min. But I beat GOW3 several times and I havent been playing much at all in the Month of April.

Im so hype for Red Dead Redemption (I already has it pre-order), and I would go on a RAGE if I cant play Red Dead Redemption.

Isn't the fan test bad for them? I'm guessing it's going into summer where you are, its probably just hotter than normal from the heat

Your ps3 is just getting really hot, probably due to old and dried out thermal compound on the cell and RSX. Theres guilds on how to apply new compound if you want to try.

Mine has been doing this essentially since I first got the thing. I'm seriously considering applying some Arctic Silver to the CPU to see if it helps at all.

Let me get you a magic wand to fix that since you obviously dont want to put any effort towards fixing the problem.

yeah mine just started doing that last year, i always thought it was because of the new hardrive i put in

but you should think about doing the thermal paste thing especially if your ps3 is not under a warrenty anymore

ps i can play fat princess without the fan turning on high

wouldn't that involve breaking the seal?

Obviously you don't really care about fixing your PS3 or you are just trolling. It's either you fix it yourself for cheap, or you pay the price of half a new PS3 to have someone else fix it.

back on topic... I say you put it out on the open or put a fan next to it just to help with the airflow

i can understand his frustration though; i get pissed too... i bought a new tv stand just for this reason, and now it is completely open and still then fan comes on... it's not like my living room is that hot! it's very comfrotable actually. It used to be just games that were exclusive for some reason, but now im noticing it with multi games like fifa world cup that i just got today... it's a 40 gb

My PS3 used to get really loud after a few minutes of playing as well, but ever since I placed it in a room where there's air conditioning - it hasn't happen since.

Try cooling it down with a water cooler or a fan. I worked for my friend.

TC my fan always seems to start getting louder during these months due to the heat and humidity in the air. It isSuper quiet during the winter months. Just turn on your AC as it seems to always work for mine. I have the 80gb BC model. Actually 2 of them.

crack the thing open and re-apply thermal grease.

I have also noticed that when I played and beat GOW3 the fan turned on every 10 minutes even after I re-applied the thermal grease. But now I'm playing FFXIII and the fan never comes on.

Seems like GOW3 was a CPU burner. strange.

make sure you keep plenty of airspace around it. i live in texas and the fan in mine has never come on, all i do is keep adequate airspace around it, set it on its side (its a fat glossy ps3) and wipe the dust off every couple of days.

after reading the reponses from these threads it seems like people who keep their ps3 in air conditioned houses tend to fare better.
