Ok, so I hear that the 40GB $400 PS3 will be stripped down. How stripped down will it be, besides the facte that it is 40GBs less?

From what I understand, there will only be two usb ports and it can't play PS1 or PS2 games. I believe there are other parts missing, but those are what I found the most substantial.

No PS2 games(PS1 is still in there), two less USB slots, and no card readers. Oh, and a matte finish, no gloss.

Ok, theres not really any PS2 games I want to play anyway, and I don't see why I would use more than two USB ports. And as long as it still has Blu Ray I'm fine. Will it have an ethernet port though?

The 60Gb is still going to be available in stores because most of them haven't been sold yet, they just wont be manufactured anymore. As for me, I picking up a 60GB from amazon as soon as I get my paycheck.

It looks the same. It's just a little smaller, and the exterior is a dull black.

Well, that's everyone says.

And I was just on Kotaku and they just posted an article on how the 40 GB has better DVD playback. There's a photo next to it with the Sony guy from Spain or something, and he's leaning on a PS3, and it doesn't look very shiny.

But yeah, I do agree with you, those screenshots did make it look glossy.

No it's not. Only the 60 and 80 have wifi. 40 only has a Ethernet port.

No PS2 compatability (im sure PS1 can still wrk, bcz it was always emulation), no memory stick slot (memory stick duo etc.), and 2 less USB ports, also 1 less fornt vent ( dsnt matter neways)

But will this one also have an ethernet port? I don't have a wireless router.

I think so. I think they all come with Ethernet ports. It was just the 20 GB that didn't come with WiFi functionality.

It should be enough, but I heard that you can just put in a larger hard drive for pretty cheap.
