If there had been a PS2 version, it would have been very half-hearted in execution, since most of their focus would have been on the PS3 and 360 versions. See Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter to see what happens when they try to pander to everybody while focusing on next-gen.

PS2 version would have a bigger market but dont think it could've offered anything that new anymore, so my vote goes for the PS3 version.

No way, Is like asking for MGS 4 for PS2, that simply is not going to happen and if does, the game will suck big time next to the next gen.

I dont have a PS3 yet and I love to play my old and nice PS2 games, but I will not buy a watered down version of a game, just to play for play, well except for those splinter cell games :p

I better wait some more till I have my brand new PS3 maybe next year, yes its still a bit on the high price for now and then get to play thouse games in all their glory.

Watered down versions should not exist!

maybe but the graphics would bea mess 'cause GTA 4 has the best graphics ever (ok MGS 4 are a lot better)

They need put ALL focus on next-generation platforms only or we will get a half assed product wich feels only ''half'' next-gen. GTAIV is supposed to make a big impact on the gaming market and Rockstar knows the fans are expecting to be wowed once again ;)

The reason there is a PS3 is so that they can do more than they could on the PS2. Developing a title as big as this on a console you're no longer trying to sell would only lead to selling less of the newest console, and you'd end up with a pretty crappy last gen game anyway. Just cause you don't have a PS3 doesn't mean that developers should keep catering to your kind - it means you need to get with the program and hop in to the next gen.

it would make no sense to put GTA4 on PS2 since then the game wouldnt be as big and there would be no significant improvements what-so-ever. San Andreas is as good as GTA will get on PS2. GTA's time on PS2 is over.

He probably meant that it's not able to run the way it's meant to be run.

Also, just because horrible ports are possible. does not mean they should at all be made.

Yeah your totally right Blind. They could lower the graphic rez and totally strip elements from the game like Tony Hawk Proving ground. But then do you really have GTA 4? No you dont.

Yes, the last proper GTA title was released in 2004 and let's not forget that PS2 will be supported till 2010 and it's only 2007 now. So why not? May be it won't be much better than GTA:SA but there more than 100 million PS2 owners who would love to see another GTA title coming to PS2 exclusively. Plus I am sure that Rockstar have enough teams for development of two GTA games, one for PS2 and another for PS3. They would make an absolute fortune and make millions of PS2 owners happy.

The PS2 has games over 4.7 gigs. . . Ever heard of dual layered? Besides, the Xbox 360 uses regular old DVD technology for its games. . .
