First you have to ask your self what type of racing game you want and then you can decide. My personal favorite has to be need for speed carbon.

While we're on the subject why does GT4 get more great and more bad reviews than any other game i've seen. The reader reviews here are usually either 9 or 10 or they're a 1.

if u want a racing game where u can totaly destroy the car then u go with one of the burnout games

if u want a racing game where there is cop chases, car tunning, and a bit of destruction of cars then u go with NFS most wanted or carbon

if u want a racing game where the only thing u do is drive in cricles then u go with GT$

hit the arcades and play initial d or maximum tune. NOW

otherwise get the most recommended burnout, or need for speed most wanted.

That's because people who like arcade racers don't understand that GT4 is a SIM. They want to kick in the NOS in second gear, and GT4 won't allow that because in a REAL car NOS in second gear would blow your engine to metal shavings. If you want to understand how to drive a real car in a real race, there's nothing closer than "Gran Turismo 4". Unfortunately, the majority of gamers are into the scorch and flash of "BurnOut" or the semi-sim "NFS" series which goes back and forth on the realism from verion to version pick up GT4 expecting a similar experience and they miss out on what a great game it is because they lose patience looking for the power-drift at 120 mph...

To me, GT4 is the best racer out there if you want a real experience, and there's nothing finer than "Burnout" games for the arcade. NFS is too wishy-washy for me generally... that doesn't mean that those games rot, it just means that I've stated an OPINION, BTW. So keep your flamin' to yourself. "ToCA Race Driver 3" gets a HUGE honorable mention in the SIM catagory for an outstanding online experience and a really fun and depthy game that never gets overly complicated (which is a semi-valid criticism of GT4, really). TRD3 has almost every kind of racing on four wheels: Monster trucks, NASCAR, Indy, lots of road classes, dirt classes, real tracks from around the world, it just rocks house.

I would suggest purchasing Gran Turismo 4 for an excellent racing sim or Burnout Revenge if you want an arcade racing game.

Arcade racing? Burnout 2, NFS Hot Pursuit 2 or NFS Most Wanted

simulation? GT4, thats it. Dont try the other ones. They are lame.

Man, you just sold ME a copy of GT4. I'll have Gamestop send you the salescommission.

I have Burnout Revenge and couldn't ask for anything more. Great crashes, outstanding graphics and sound, loads of content and different tracks and gameplay modes.

I tried Need for Speed Underground 2 and was terribly dissapointed. The graphics were kinda blurry, the racing not so fun, and the game only had ONE race track! :-( Granted, the missions pit you on different sections of it, but it was still part of the SAME downtown section of the same city. :-( Worst game I've ever played.
