Resident Evil is one of my favorite series, it's one of those series you have to play--you'll love it. Games in Chronological Order: -Resident Evil: Zero (prequel to the 1st game) -Resident Evil -Resident Evil 2 -Resident Evil 3 (takes place before and after the events of RE2 and adds on to an already great story) -Resident Evil: Code Veronica (is a direct sequel to 2 & 3, not a sidestory like the title suggests) -Resident Evil 4 Games in order from my favorite to least favorite: -Resident Evil 2 -Resident Evil 4 -Resident Evil: Code Veronica -Resident Evil 1 -Resident Evil 3 -Resident Evil Zero If you want to check them all out you should buy a gamecube for like 30 bucks and pick up the Resident Evil Collection--which includes RE: Zero, RE: Remix(the first game with way better graphics--exclusive to Gamecube), and RE4. They also ported Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, & Resident Evil: Code Veronica X to Gamecube, so you could get the entire Resident Evil series for probably under $100. If you end up buying them all you should definitely start with RE: Remix, then play 2, 3, code veronica, 4, then play RE: Zero last because it's more of a sidenote than a prequel and if you play it before all the others you'll totally lose interest in the series.

P'ah no matter what anyone says they're all awesome and have something unique to each one.

  • Resident Evil 0 - gives you the option to drop an item where ever you want and come back for it later, also the unique switching between two characters is nice.
  • Resident Evil - It was the first game made and the mansioin looks cool
  • Resident Evil 2 - First game set in Racoon City introduces Claire & Leon for the first time and is a big game.
  • Residen Evil 3 - See's the return of Jill from RE 1, again set in Racoon City and gives you on the spot decisions as too wether you want to fight or run from Nemesis throughout the game.
  • Resident Evil 4 - Changed the style of play with new enemies as oppose to zombies, a new camera perspective this list goes on really..
  • Resident Evil CVX - A huge game, great storyline, overall one of my favourite RE's

Play them all, that's basically what I'm saying :D

I'd say Code Veronica is the best old style RE, but RE4 is hands down the best RE game.

RE2 was the best but now RE4 tops it. But...I'm sure if they made a remake with enhanced graphics I would probably like RE2 better. I sure missed them zombies. I love RE games but I gotta say I'm glad RE4 turned out the way it did. I hate backtracking alot in the past RE games. And plus instead of holding 6-8 items only. RE4 can hold alot more.

Yes, its true that they're all damned good. REmake is amazing - its my favorite of the fixed camera RE's. But, simply put, RE4 is one of the very finest games EVER crafted, and I think the switch to less claustrophobic settings and plentiful ammo just make it a more enjoyable experience, even if it's not as frightening as REmake or Zero. Let me just say, that at the end of the day, my playtime for RE4 will probably be twice all other RE's put together.

The original is easily the best, no others come close and are not worthy of comparison (except the remake of course).  The original has the best story, atmosphere, and is the scariest- it is a master piece and I have been playing my copy since its release day in 1996 (also just got it for the DS :) )

Resident Evil- This version has been released many times as well as remade 5 years ago. I personally think the original is the best version of the series. People remember this for having forcefully bad voice dialogue. STARS members Jill and Chris are the main protagonists. If you have a DS go with the Deadly Silence version as it has all the original game as well as Rebirth Mode where you use your stylus for some gameplay elements (which contrary to popular belief, are not tacked in and gimmicky). If you want a more mature version and have a GC, get the remake. Resident Evil 2- This game has my favorite death scenes for your character. It's really brutal stuff. This is what a sequel should do, greatly expand on the established base without losing any of the flavor of what made the original work. Everything is done better here, the graphics, the voice acting, the bonus extras. 2 new characters are introduced such as Clair, Chris' younger sister who is looking for him and Leon, a rookie cop who's first day in the force has him against incredible odds. Resident Evil 3- Nemesis is the coolest enemy in any RE game EVER!! This dude will hunt you down frequently during your quest with his creepy "stars" voice. The game fleshes out the Raccoon City infestation of 1998 much more as you play as RE1's Jill Valentine. The game isn't as big as RE2 (only Jill has the main game and the original game is only on ONE disc as opposed to RE2's TWO discs) but it makes up for it with the incredible scenarios. Resident Evil Code Veronica- The first full 3d version of the game. Siblings Chris and Claire Redfield are the protagonists on this RE game outside of the Raccoon City region. The game is not really part of the main story but its a hell of an adventure being the longest game in the classic format. If I can find faults for this game, it does not have the same refined elements as RE3 (you can't fully control going up and down on stairs and no evasion elements) which leads me to believe that CV was developed before part 3 oh and its not very gory (weak). Resident Evil 4- Is no longer a true RE game. It's a third person shooter with Leon Kennedy. This game is still very gruesome though with some really wicked death scenes. The pacing of the game is excellent, I also didn't mind it being ultra linear since the action is so good. I hope RE5 combines elements of part 4 while going back to the past for the quick thrills of the classic games. Both elements can be satisfactoraly met.

Like anything else, everyone has their favorite Resident Evil game due to the time in their life they played it and the experience they had while playing it. Out of all the games, I played RE2 first--I beat it in I think 5 days and fell in love with the series. That probably has something to do with my choice for favorite game. I didn't have a Playstation though, I had Saturn(curse those 3 games included with the system and my retarded 11 year old mind) my friend let me play through his copy of RE2 while we were at the beach. The story was the best thing ever--it was the coolest game I had ever played. Anyway, since I had Saturn that's why I missed out on RE1 and RE3 for a while. Having also been a dreamcast owner, I bought RE: Code Veronica right when it came out and was blown away by the graphical improvements, new creatures, amazing locations, scare factor, sweet weapons--and the return of Claire and Chris. Code Veronica definitely should have been named Resident Evil 4. It's obvious they gave it a title to make it seem like a sidestory, since it was the first time a Resident Evil launched on another console, and they didn't want to offend fans too much. Code Veronica really takes the game out of the remote town and effects the story on a global scale--RE5 will be a direct follow-up to the events of that game(I can't wait!). Out of all the games in the series, I've beaten Resident Evil 2 three times and RE: CV twice. I've never beaten the first Resident Evil completely, so that's another factor in my decision. I've always wanted to beat it and there's no excuse--I've played the original several times on PSone but it was always at a friends house and I never got a chance to get very far--and man, the original is f-ing hard. I did get to the shark in Remix at my cousins house, which tells me that Remix is way easier so I'd like to beat the original to overcome the true challenge. The next game I beat was Resident Evil 4--and it's great. I don't need to list the improvements--I was nervous about them changing the gameplay I loved so much but it couldn't have been better. Although it lost that claustrophobic feel and "zombie" aspect, it brought about a whole new type of video game scare and made the game even more movie-like( I guess I just listed the improvements anyway, darn). Getting my head chopped off by a guy with a chainsaw is definitely the most I've jumped during an event in a video game. I will say this though, because I never hear anyone else bring it up, probably because the game is so great any minor flaws are overshadowed. Come on though, the dialogue got extremely cheesy(good story, bad dialogue). And while it was really cheesy in the first and pretty cheesy in the second, by the time they got to Code Veronica it wasn't that bad--except for Steve--but he redeemed himself. RE4 is freaking amazing though. Alright, back to the other games. I didn't beat RE3 until after RE4, I finally borrowed it from my friend--I did own it, along with the second one for dreamcast. I traded my system and games in before I beat it, in order to get a PS2 after Dreamcast died though. (I got stuck on the last part of the train mission--shouldn't have been too proud to use a strategy guide) I have never beaten RE: Zero, I played a couple hours of it--that's another one I have to beat. I also bought Resident Evil Outbreak but didn't have the network adapter for PS2 at the time. Unfortately I traded it in because it pretty much sucked, should I have waited to try it online??? Now I won't have a chance since they're taking the servers down. To conclude this long winded tale of my experience with the resident evil games, Resident Evil is my favorite video game series and it's cool to hear what other fans' opinions are--I can totally understand why any of the games in the series would be your favorite--it's not just the game, it's when you play it and the impact it has on you.

RE2 - Best (if this is for ps2 it will sure top RE4)

RE4 - Easiest (for me this has the best camera angle of all games)

RE1 - Hardest and scariest

RE3 - Average

It's all about RE: CV for Dreamcast. YES!! I said Dreamcast. I had a killer time playing it on that great system.

I thought RE: Zero was kinda hard, I think I gave up early in the game. I did like how every was a little different, I must say when I seen the rain coming down on top of the train. It nearly blew me away, Simply amazing!!

Yes, I loved Code Veronica on Dreamcast too!!! I was so surprised by the improvements, the environments, and the fact that it wasn't just a sidestory like everyone said it would be--I also had no idea you'd play as Chris. Anyone who hasn't played Code Veronica has got to play it before RE5 comes out.

I can't agree with u TankLoveR. RE 4 Is at last a trully extreme survival horror !!! Previous parts of RE were really a gothic-adventure games. In older parts were maybe a biger horror atmosphere but there were also not much ammo and enemies , but were much more ridlers.

I'm fully agree with youforthe RE:code veronica comment. After I played RE4, I can still enjoy RE3 but not RE:CV...it is because of the reason you stated here. (you are right, RE:CV is develop before RE3)
