Silent Hill or Fatal Frame, Which is Scarier?

I've played a few of both but got sidetracked from the survival/horror games.

I'm trying to get back into them but don't know which one would be more worth the money for a scare.

Feedback is appreciated.

 I also play RE, but they don't usually scare me at all.

Go watch a horror film...they are usually scarier and you can save some $ and time.

True, but I like the interaction and submersion into a world rather than sitting around watching a predictable and cheezy horror flick. I usually play RPG's so the story and element of mood mean much more than simple television.

that's a tough one. they both have scary parts, but i give the edge to silent hill. it's just creepier.

both has different type of scare... silent hill is more of a monster scare.. fatal frame is supernatural... i like them both...

I actually find playing games more scary. I think its because you cant just sit there and watch the plot unfold, you are actually in direct control of the character and its in your hands wether he/she lives or dies. But thats just me. Oh, but ive never played fatal frame and only have ever played a small amount of Silent Hill 2, so i wont be much help.

I'v played all the Silent Hill games but, unfortunatly, I'v never played Fatal Frame.  If your getting a Silent Hill game I highly suggest Silent Hill 2, my personal fav.

i'm the owner of all three fatal frame games, pick up fatal frame 2, it will definitely get you, make sure the lights are out when you play it

I agree with you. In Silent Hill, you fight with the zombies and other kind of monsters with Guns or any firearms. In Fatal Frame, you fight with Supernatural things like Ghosts with Camera or w/o any firearms. Both of them is scarier, but I could not finish Fatal Frame, because I was so scared. On the other hand, I finished RE4 immediately, because of Adrenaline :D

 
I'm sorry but I  compared Resident Evil - Fatal Frame :(

Hmm, i would have to vote for fatal frame/project zero series Silent hill tries to scare you passively through atmosphere while fatal frame is filled with closet jumpers as i like to call them :P
Besides i nevercould really handle the combat system in silent hill just too clunky tough fatal frame has a horrible control scheme once your used to it ya are effective with it while silent hill stays clunky all the way.

Well, it depends on how you want to be scared. Silent Hill will play with your head and disturb you in every way possible. Fatal Frame will attempt to make you **** yourself through "boo!" style scares. Both are great series, and the 2nd game in each series are the best. I like SH2 better, mainly because the story and atmosphere are amazing. Fatal Frame 2 is great though, too, and it is definitely my 2nd fav horror game of all time.

I feel silent hill is scarier... the environment and SFX with the game is quite good

 But to be honest... Ill be scared stiff fighting spirits with only a Camera... lol

Fear is different for each person. He asked which one scares you the most...Mine is Fatal Frame. Its that simple. On top of that he played both so he knows how the game is...so why explain how the game is... Jeez...keep your shirt on.

I rented Siren and found it more frustratingly difficult than anything. The atmosphere is great in the game, however, so if you can actually PROGRESS through the game, unlike me, then you probably would enjoy it.
