This is one game for the PS2 that I still have not played, as it just seemed so out of the ordinary that I never took a chance on it. Lately I have been reading a bit more about it, and became intrigued enough that I placed an order for it, as I just have to see what all the hype is about. And I surely do not want to miss out on it if it is indeed so great.

So my questions to those who have played it are, is the game really as great as the hype. And how is the backward compatibility on the PS3 for this title?

Thanks

well i'm only 5 hours into it so i can't give a really good estimate, but so far it's really fun. it's really similar to Zelda, so if you love Zelda i'm sure you'll love it. the paintbrush seems confusing, but it really isn't. you can draw the sun, lilypads on water, bombs to blow up cracks and stuff like that. its not like you draw the entire world.

In a word: yes.

Okami is one of the most beautiful games ever made. Beyond its beauty is contained a phenomenal story which is rooted in the shinto religious mythology of all things. Beyond its beauty and story is a world where so many different things are possible thru the celestial brush, which is one of the best gameplay inventions of all time. Beyond its beauty and story and gameplay it also has some challenging unique boss fights. Beyond its beauty and story and gameplay and boss fights it has some of the most amazing music Ive ever heard.

Few games are amazing on so many levels.

As far as ps3 compatability I have no idea though.

gameplay is mostly easy when it comes to combat but it has some real brain-busting puzels

overall, i have found it to be very fun, but not much of a challege

It looks grat upscaled on the PS3. The LCD screen setting makes it look even better. Okami is every bit as good as it is said to be

Oh! Okami is one of my favorite games. And I'm picky when it comes to picking favorites.

Seriously. It's as good as the hype says and more. Not only is it gorgeous, it's unique and interesting. i suggest getting it before it disappears forever.

Yes! Okami is one of the best PS2 games! IMO it is better than those big games such as FF series, MGS series, GoW 1 and 2, GTA series, etc.

Okami will not disappoint. The controls and fighting are like exact clones of zelda oot/ww. The graphics are wicked. I have one piece of advice for any newbies though. When you kill stuff they usually float in the air for a second or two before they fall back down to the ground. If you draw over them while they are floating with a specific design you earn these teeth that you will be able to buy cool stuff with later on. Each monster has its own design you have to draw and I will leave it up to you to find out which is which. Okami is the only game that craphole studio Clover got right. Even though its great I still think its a one timer and dont really think its a game worth owning. Just a must play game.
