An HDTV is not like those old big projection TVs from the olden days. But her decision is for the best, why? Because many PS2 games look downright ugly on a HD set. Component cables may help but only one game takes full advantage of it.

If the sets a plasma, it could cause burni in The older rear projection sets can do the same. besides, it looks like crap. And finally, it's her set, not yours. Go out and buy one

Why do you want to play your PS2 on a HDTV for? It's not going to look any better or maybe yet worse.

For your Mum:

Its not going to make any arm to the HDTV, in fact, all new TVs are designed to handle video signals like the video component, if she has a DVD Player plugged to the TV is exactly the same thing, thats a video signal that is displayed in the video output of your TV

For you:

I got always problems with my family, because they always claim that the video games do harm to the TVs you know when all that drama ends? when I got my own TV, so save some money and stop annoying your mum with your video games and play in the confort of your own room.

How do you figure it does not look better. You guys must be crazy. I play on mine all the time. It looks way sweeter. It does not mess up the television either.

PS2 games are primarily designed to be played on standard sets, not HD. HD only magnifies the imperfections.

Kids...Thank you for entertaining me. Man does this topic rule. Moms are pretty evil... Or not but it's all the same since I don't have to care 'bout stuff like that anymore. Show your mother some scientific proof and she'll let you play on thy HDTV in no time. Well that style worked for my mother when I was still a child, dunno 'bout your mother. Although my mother never told me that consoles damage TVs so that might be a bit hard to proof. Well you could ask some other adult to explain her y'know.

Your Mum might be a little confused. I agree  it wont damage your tv. However some people used to say that consoles can damage tvs with the cathrode ray tubes but i havent heard anybody say this in a long time. Anyway you still cant blame your mum i'm sure the tv wasnt cheap.

I sell TVs.. lol... if it's plasma that you got last year or if you got it recently and it's a samsung than she's right youre SOL... if's it's LCD than you're absolutely fine...(plasma's nowadays wont burn it.. the latest models of all but samsung).... but i dont think mumsy will care.. either way you're SOL.. so.... enjoy.. atleast the Wii looks like ass on HD...the ps2 looks fine on a 42" DLP from my tv...otherwise.. enjoy,.. GoW2 is still amazing on a flat tube CRT... game play never changes... but Resistance on a HD biggy is pretty f'n sweet ;) ca-ching

Have you tried stamping your feet and calling her the worst Mommy ever? My niece does it all the time. Seriously, most of the new HDTV's can handle it. It might just be she wants the TV to herself.

There is no harm done to your HDTV. Play as much as you want. Tell your mum to look at all our replies and then maybe that will change her mind.

As a person who used to share the biggest TV in the house with my mom, I hear your cries! If games bothered tv's, none of my mom's would work. Before I turned 17 and moved out, I put in thousands of hours of gaming on different tv's in my mom's house and the only one that was damaged was the one she spilled milk on. If you're not old enough to either buy your own tv or move out, I support your argument!
