should i get a ps2 because i want to play god of war final fantasy games and other action games. xbox games suck so im might trade in the xbox for ps2, or should i wait for ps3?
If you're gonna wait for the PS3 you'll be waiting for quite a while seeing as how it probably won't launch in North America until Fall or Winter. Get a PS2 and enjoy lots of great games NOW!
First of all don't trade in your Xbox. You will almost certainly regret doing that. At one point 3 years ago, I had all three systems. Then my son was born and I didn't figure that I would have time to play all three, so I sold the GC and the ps2. At that time most of the games that interested me were on Xbox. Now 3 years later I realized that most of the games that I wanted to play now were on ps2. So I went out and bought another one. I also realized that there were far more games for my son to play on ps2 as well. I already have 4 games for it, and I'll be getting more this week. I tell you this long story because you might want to play something on the Xbox 6 months from now and if you trade it in for the $75 that they probably give you for it will not be worth missing a game for.Â
Second, I do recommend getting a ps2. I would not wait for the ps3 as I think the price and the almost inevitable delay of its release will make buying a ps2 now well worth it. Even if the ps3 makes its scheduled launch (whenever that is) it will most likely be plagued by bugs and failures just like the 360. Don't take this as a dig on the ps3 either. I will be getting one as soon as I feel the need to blow $400 on a new machine. It's just that I'll wait out the first few months before jumping on board.
    After God of War 2 comes out there wont be any more decent games coming to PS2. Save for a PS3 and you can still play all of the PS2 games plus have a system that will last a few years.
get a ps2 now cuz it still has quite a bit of life left in it. even when you do get a ps3 a ps2 will be nice to have to play games somewhere else in the house.

Dawn of Mana (though people say it is horrible) Odin Sphere (Definetely worth looking into) .Hack//GU vol. 2 and 3 Also, on many HDTVs PS2 games look like crap on the PS3. If you like RPGs, you can spend a thousand hours playing and beating the good ones. Otherwise, you could get MGS and Sly if you're into stealth, the other action games like Jak 1-3 Ratchet and Clank 1-Deadlocked, fighters like Tekken 5 and Guilty Gear X2, Virtua Fighter 4 etc. There are tons of games to play. Some games have short loading times, some have longer ones. It really isn't too bad, you'll get used to it. Buy one.

Yes... the ps3 is backward compatible and since the EU launch date for the PS3 isn't far away... Also, GOW 2 is coming round about the time when the PS3 launches in the EU. March. So, I say, you should wait for the ps3. Is expensive but if you can afford it, why not enjoy a next gen powerful console?
Never, ever, buy a launch model console. History has proven that launch models tend to suck and will not last the system's total lifespan. The original PlayStation was plagued with problems such as faulty disc motors and failing due to high temperatures. The PS2, you know the deal. Xboxes with the Thompson brand disc drives. Xbox 360s have been reported to be pretty faulty, people playing it standing up have had their game discs scratched, and HDD crashes. Well what do you know? It seems that Sony and Microsoft made consoles have pretty nasty launch models. Despite how much I don't like them, Nintendo makes very durable consoles, I still think there is still only one version of the Gamecube, no revisions internally IICR.
