I had to take my PS2 (The Brick one) apart to fix the eject button as it was jammed in...but i opened it and accidentley ripped the wire out that goes into the motherboard. But when i tried to put it back in the blue plastic that stops it from bending broke off, now the thing just slides out of the connector. So the two buttons on the console are broke, is there anyother way to get the console on without pressing the Reset or Eject button?

I have a swap magic tool that can open the drive for me, but that is useless if i cant get the thing to turn on.

SORRY FOR THE DOUBLE POST, THE BROWSER FROZE

Open up the PS2 and grab a soldering iron, problem solved.

If you dont know how to work a soldering iron ask a adult to do it as its definetly not a toy.

It sounds like you are talking about the ribbon cable that connects the buttons to the motherboard, in which case soldering is probably not a good option. I would recommend either trying to repair your ribbon cable or ordering a new one.

The ribbon is held in the connector by pressure on the blue plastic shim. If you can super glue the shim back on the end of the ribbon where it was, you should be able to wedge it securely back in place in the connector.

If this isn't possible, you can order a replacement ribbon cable online; the downside to this is they are overpriced and you will have to pay shipping.

i havent a ps2, but it seems to me you could probably just solder new buttons on, it might not be as estethic as before, but should work. Or try to solder the official button back on

Have any of you guys ever taken a PS2 apart? This is a very minor issue, at worst it only requires ordering a new ribbon cable and plugging it in where the old one had been. Just make sure you don't plug it in upside-down and you really can't go wrong. I posted the link earlier to a site where you can buy the cable for $10 plus shipping. Replacing the whole console over this would be like buying a new car because your key broke off in the ignition switch.
