the same reason they charge to build a pc. you can save a lot of money if you just buy all the parts but some people dont want to spend the time or dont know what they are doing. i wouldnt pay for it but i can see how someone else would.

It's going to take someone time to do it - granted, it might not be much, but their time is money. So if you want the service, they're going to charge you for it.

Much like the tech support I work on, it's in the contract that we do NOT remove viruses, but we can do so if you want to pay for it. It's just one of those things....sometimes removing a virus on a PC is pretty simple, sometimes it's a pain in the ass. We will charge you for our time it's taking us away from doing the actual work we are contracted for.

BUT i manage to download Hitman Pro and i ran that and it got the little sucker and did a full clean of the system. and i gave my brother a good smack for getting the virus.

Because it takes their time and time is money to any good business! Also dont forget that they *should* also run a long stress test after overclocking it to guarentee stability before shipping.

same reason graphics card makers charge more for overclocked versions, because people are dumb enough to buy them

Or, you know, because they come with better cooling solutions too.

You can quickly tell the people who don't live in the real world. "I have to pay for something you did for me, what a rip-off" Go get a job and see how many things you are willing to do for free.

I can't help but chuckle a little about people who always say stuff like this. It is obvious they have never ran a business or had to earn a living. I wonder if they complain about mechanics charging for doing an oil change? Or for constructions works trying to make a living building a house.

I know let's all grow our own food, make our own clothes, and build our own buildings so we never get "ripped off" again. How dare people try and make money off of you.

Overclocking takes labor and time just like anything else, you have to OC in the Bios and stress test which. All of which use electricity and work labor.

yeah i dont see the problem. Its classic supply and demand really. There are people who want to OC but dont know how and dont care to try so theres a market for it.

Actually, u dont necessarily lose out on a lot $$$ all the time if u buy from these sites, i did the math...if anything u might break even, if compared to buying ur parts seperatley on newegg and building it on ur own... of course if your good at bargain hunting thats another thing also, i'm guessing they buy their parts in bulk at a cheaper price so they can actually make a profit.
