X-Fi Effects Through Optical?

Do you get EAX 5.0 and CMSS-3D effects through optical? I have heard yes and no anwsers.

I would run my system like so:

X-Fi (Through Optical)----> Compass Dac / Amp------> Sennheiser HD 580 Headphones

i use CMSS-3D On my X-540 to Turn on a full 5.1 Surround for my music / movie but i usally don't need to activate it to get 5.1 surround in my game for headphone i don't know.

I think you need Dolby Digital Live! or DTS Interactive capability to do that. Auzentech X-Fi cards have both as standard. Creative X-Fi cards may offer them, but as something you have to pay for.

I'ld suspect it's possible as effects will be added before the DACs though whether they've allowed it in the drivers is a different matter. How's the Compass? I'm thinking of getting one, should be quite an improvement from my current onboard :lol:
