Poll With FFXIV on PC being so popular and MGSV getting a PC release, do you think FFXV will come to PC? (24 votes)

Yes 38%
No 8%
Maybe, it's definitely possible 54%

Seeing as how I can't post in SW yet, I'll just put this here.

Personally, I'm thinking it's a definite maybe considering how Square has gone multiplat and the architecture between platforms is so identical.

Don't really give a shit about anything outside the MMO but it does seem kinda dumb to want to entice people into the final fantasy universe while saying "oh well, you're not worth the effort of porting".

A part of me says yes, but at the same time their PC releases are weird. It went 7, then 8, and then 3. So maybe we'll get 5, and then 1&2, and then 13-2, and then Crystal Chronicles, and then 4, and then who knows...

Of course they have the MMOs on there, but it's not exactly the same.

I prefer 1 to 6 (mostly 4 to 6) and 9,10, rather than FFXIV :P

Yes I am very confident that it will. It is using the Luminous engine which was originally showcased on the PC. SE have shown quite a bit of interest in the PC over the last few years. I think M$ or Sony will snatch up some timed exclusive bullshit first though.

Here are some quotes from an interview with PRGSite back in June 2012 who had a discussion about the Luminous Engine with Yoshihisa Hashimoto, the CTO at SE:

“In the case of the Luminous Studio, we’re probably not going to be bound to any particular platform.”

“The engine caters to PC already, probably PlayStation 3, Mobile, iPad tablets also browser and cloud as well. Not just next-gen – we can scale,”

“This time, a lot of power was expended on graphics because we wanted to show something really visually impressive. To be clear, it hasn’t been optimized yet. So we should be able to optimize AI, graphics, the animation, audio all those things to slot together.”

“Of course we, the team, created this engine but definitely we are going to raise the bar for AI, animation, audio and physics everything.”

“What we were using today for this demonstration it’s of course high specification, but all the parts are also things readily available in the PC market right now. The graphics board you could probably buy without driving too far from here. It’s very realistic that in the near future people can play a game with visuals of this quality.”

I hope so, if it's more like FFX/FFXII than the Lightning games.

Or was Versus renamed? I would'nt mind something akin to KH.

it may be delayed like GTA but i think it will see the light of day on the PC. it wouldnt be the first to appear on the PC and sega have shown that it can be a profitable platform (square are also making other PC games too of course). as long as its a good port with proper mouse and keyboard controls (which should work fine in a FF game) to go with controllers (which should be copy/paste from X1 code pretrty much) then it should be a worthwhile venture.

i think its starting to sink in with more japanese developers/publishers that the PC can work nicely for them also. sega were probably the first of the big japanese publishers to see it (buying creative assembly) then capcom (their base tech was built in mid range PC specs and ported to consoles....a strategy that proved very successful). sony (who make more PC games than MS oddly enough) have also had a successful history on the PC. i think the message is getting out there.

Somewhat likely, since Final Fantasy III has been among the top 100 sellers during it's first week of release on Steam.
