XP is installed on my hard drive right now but I'm about to change the motherboard (along with the video card and ram of course). I purchased windows 7 OEM just in case xp didn't boot up (so I can just wipe the hard drives if need be and start from scratch). Do I have to wipe my hard drives or can I just insert the disc and install?

You can just insert the disk and install, or format from the install disk if you want to. I personally like to format the drive using the install disk when I reinstall windows. It's the easiest way to keep my drives nice and clean of junk folders and files...

In addition to the above, a clean install is much quicker than the upgrade option.
