What more needs to be said? I will be upgrading from 7 to 10 probably, I really hated 8 except maybe for it's slightly better performance.

Idk, I hope they give you the option to disable the start menu/screen method you don't like. Because I really don't like the Windows 7 way of doing things anymore. That start menu is like 20 years old, if I see it one more freakin time...

8.1 is pretty perfect for me.

Why the hell did they call it 10?

That start menu reminds me a lot of the MSN menu that you could install on XP.

Unless I can get it at a ridiculously low price I'll stick with windows 8.1. It works well.

If rumours are to be believed, Windows 10 will be free for Windows 8 owners, and about $30 for Windows 7 owners. Word is, Microsoft are desperate to wipe the slate clean of all the Windows 8 negativity.

Anyway, what I've seen, I like. An operating system that behaves differently on PCs and tablets, automatically switching between modes with Continuum? Microsoft finally gets it.

Good. Its time to move on from 8. I love 8, but I never see the Metro garbage. Performance is great.

so windows 10 will be windows 8 without the crappy metro interface and with a start menu? so it's a re-branded windows 7?

And whats with people saying windows 8 has better performance? i've looked up benchmarks on this and seen no difference and usually windows 8 has more bugs or causes games to not even run. Some benchmarks that did favor windows 8 gave it gains of small percentage points. Win 8 loads faster and thats all i seen from it... i never boot my pc up often since i just put it to sleep and load windows maybe once every couple months, so saving 5-10 seconds boot time is meaningless.

Windows 10 has both the Classic Start Menu (or the new version which is a combo), and also the Metro Menu if you're on a touch device.

And no, it's not a "re-branded Windows 7". Do some research and read about the differences.

I'll probably upgrade both my PC(currently 7) and laptop(currently 8.1) to Windows 10. And thanks to my university providing me with free software I won't even pay the (alleged) $30 from 7 to 10.

We are about to build new rigs, and will be buying Windows 8.1. It is kinda nice to think we will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. Although I will personally wait on my rig before I do so, until all my hardware/software is supported. But once it is I don't see a reason why not to go with the newest OS, as long as it is good.

WOW!, Start menu and now you can change the size of the windows, move them around and even close them.

This is innovation right there, and best part is that now the search bar won't only find your hidden folder, that you don't want your mom/wife/husband/friends/sibling/IT guy to find, but also every porn site on the web.

Thank you Microsoft.

Sheesh...

I like my Win7 and unless this Win10 gives me a good deal I won't be upgrading to it, and why would I upgrade anyways ? That's what they fail to answer ... "We will give you so much bla bla bla" And it still wouldn't answer my question - Why bother when the current OS solves all your work related and gaming needs.

OH MY GAWD!!! You can resize apps and move them about the screen!!!! Oh how did such features come to being, the advances... I may require a course of training for all these new advances!

Well, it depends if you want the new features or not of course. If your current OS does everything you need then no one is forcing you to upgrade.

People complained when MS removed the Start Menu and that you couldn't resize the Metro Apps. They put it back with the option to resize apps and now people complain again. Some people will never be happy. Don't know why you guys give it so much importance. The OS is just a tool, the software you run on it is where you get the most use out of a PC.

I decided to try the technical preview on my desktop since I already have an image of my whole os in case it went wrong.

Overall it's very good. I haven't noticed any major bugs. A few weird aesthetic design choices here and there(the X button is very close to the edge of the window, the start menu can look tacky if you pick certain desktop colors and stuff like that)

Performance is very good, bitlocker works perfectly, search works properly unlike start8's, comes with several driver updates which is a plus.

I'm going to stick with it, nothing but good things to say so far.

Let's face it MS has always been terribly inconsistent with the names of their products.
