Will half life 2 work? I got the orange box all the games besides half life 2, worked, i think its because my media accalator X3100, but soon am getting an upgrade, to a HIS 4870, after i have that installed will the game most likely be able to run? Other specs. ---------------------------------------- core 2 duo 2.60 Gz, 4 GB, ram vista home premium 64 bit,t 320 GB ------------------------------------------ thanks.

Wait a sec. Let me get this straight. You installed all of The Orange Box games, and all of them worked fine except HL2? Meaning, TF2 and Portal which run on the newer version of the Source engine ran okay and ol' HL2 didn't?
If so, methinks you're having a problem with the 64 bit version. When you run a 64 bit OS HL2 automatically wants to run in 64 bit mode. This is hit or miss for a lot of people. There are things you can try adding to your autoexec.cfg to get it to work properly, but they never got it 100% for me. So I suggest adding -32bit to HL2's Launch Options in Steam.

Do you have any other customizations in your Launch Options or autoexec.cfg? You might try setting the game back to default (first run) settings and then firing it up in 32bit mode again.

The game does work all i had to do was change it to 32Bit and wait until the blank screen went away for 30 minutes. Thanks man! :) Now the game works fine.
well this is like a month after you put the comment on the will hl2 work on my pc thing well the old hl2 was updated with new enhancements on the orange box so it could be the versions compatibility problems
