I want to play gears 5 on my pc. I have an Xbox and ps4. It’s 69 bucks on the Xbox and 99 on steam. It’s clear steam is anti pc gaming. The sales are good but should I have to wait 6 months for the price to become reasonable. Why does the publisher ok this. It kills the pc game and promotes piracy. I live in Australia.
Update. JB HiFi has a card with the pc code for borderlands 3. $68 via epic store. If this was via steam it would be $99. I repeat, steam is killing pc gaming and ripping off customers. Steam nuthuggers just cannot see it. Taking 30% is just too much.
@peterroberts123456: It's clear that you are unaware of what you're talking about. Again, the publishers set the price, and it's well in-line with AAA releases. Gears 5 is $100AUD on Xbox via EBgames, you lemon. It's also in-line with upcoming releases in Australia. Are you doing okay? Should we send an ambulance?
@peterroberts123456: Damn, Steam is anti-PC gaming?
And here I was enjoying their:
huge discounts
support, forums, and so forth
in-house mod support usable by anyone
large library at inexpensive prices
excellent community support
Thanks for telling me! Now I can go use something that doesn't have all the above, but somehow actually is supportive of PC gaming, despite not appearing to be so. Like the Tencent-Epic Game Store :P
Only a dickhead like yourself buys from eb games. Harvey Norman has it for 69. You sir are semi retarded it seems. Job hifi has it for 79 you fool.@lundy86_4:
Doesn’t steam have a regional pricing algorithm that suggests prices to publishers. I can’t believe they are that stupid to sell a digital game for 100 while a tradeable physical copy is 69. Both steam and the publishers are killing regional pc gaming.
@lundy86_4: @lundy86_4: haha you’re back. And I call bullshit that steam has nothing to do with the 100 price tag. Valve sets a recommended price. The pub can change it. But why not go with an elevated recommended price.
Steam doesn't encourage piracy its actually the complete opposite. Steam is the first platform on PC to provide a quality service to PC gamers. Steam proved that piracy can be countered by providing services superior to getting a pirated copy. Many people that use to pirate started buying games because of Steam. Countries like Russia and China which are rampant in piracy became some of PC gaming's top markets now that they got people buying games. Not only that Steam added so many features that makes it superior and more appealing than other online services even those on consoles.

I dislike Valve/steam because they forgot how to make good games. The games they make aren't games anymore. They are plaforms on which to sell microtransactions/lootboxes.

Aaaannnd /thread. I'll go call the burn unit after this one.
Well...Personally I like using steam due to convenience and the sales, plus I can always buy a Steam gift card rather than having to buy a Debit gift card and pay an extra $5 if I want to buy myself a $20 or $30 game. (I refuse to use an Actual credit card or dedicated debit card for ordering things online BTW).
Many things are different from country to country, and cost of goods and services is one of them, Einstein. I wish I could wake up every morning and schralp some tasty waves on the Goldie after banging a hot Sheila, but don't. That doesn't make the U.S. anti-Ausssie/anti-fun...it means I'm living the wrong life.
@fedor: wake up son. gears is there but other games are not. i still have to pay 100 bucks and steam takes 30 of that. you steam nuthuggers are unbelievable.
@peterroberts123456: no need for personal attacks. Also, games in general are regularly more expensive on the Windows store than Steam, so it's weird that you've singled out Gears 5 schlock as an example that defines the whole case you want to make.
There's no perfect store on PC, but Steam is far better than most, ESPECIALLY the Windows store.
Now you'll call me a nuthugger too, I'm sure, but what you ought to know first is that I will buy anything on GoG before Steam in a heartbeat if the price is comparable. So no, I'm not a Steam "fan", it's just that your argument is frankly weird
*edit* also, I just booted it up out of curiosity and I don't know what you're talking about - it would seem you are a victim of different regional pricing models between the two stores or something:
