Which do you think is the best stealth based game... Lets not talk about 'series' but instead ONE particular game which you love and probably is the best one For me Hitman Blood Money. I mean simply outstanding. Great on story, high on gameplay...What more could i ask for... I also do like Splinter Cell Chaos Theory What abt u?
i haven't played many, but i'll go with hitman blood money.
i love/hate stealth games. they scare me way more than any other type of game, so i can't wait/never want to play them cos they make my heart hammer so much.
Thief 2 Man, i remember i bought the game 10 years ago or whenever it came out and really i didnt want to start it, didnt seem interesting. I played the first 5-10 minutes and i didnt really get it. I just dug the whole arrow and sword crap. My gaming mind quickly matured by the 2nd level i had gotten the whole concept of stealth and adventure. Truly epic. If i play it now, im sure i won't enjoy it because it seems that many new games have re-created and applied the formula. But it is truly epic. Try out the whole series. Also Thief 4 should be out in a year or two, so better be ready for that.
I think Hitman is a mixture of stealth and action, which is a strength because you can choose but for pure stealth its pretty forgiving when you can just get out an uzi and shoot people. Thief Deadly Shadows has some great stealth with good fuzzy AI logic. Deus Ex also has choice stealth. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory has some really good stealth missions. Probably Thief Deadly Shadows for me

Both games you cited were absolutely amazing. Blood Money is state-of-the-art.
But nothing can beatThief: The Dark Project Gold Edition -- which has 3 more missions than the original, one of them maybe the best in the game.

I don't care? All the Hitman games and most of the Theif games are equally as good. If anyone wants an individual title they can randomly pick one from either group and I'd support it.
Ok, i initially said the Thief series, but since one game is required, rather than a series i would have to say Thief 2 The Metal Age...Amazing story, a psychopath antagonist (anyone remember "The New Scripture of the Master Builder") and amazing stealthy gameplay. Just by writing about this amazing series i get goosebumps, my eyes are watery and i have the instant urge to sneak out my office quietly, pickpocket a couple of my coworkers and blackjack my boss from behind...Thief - my favorite series ever.
its a toss up between thief ds and splinter cell for me. I would give a slight edge to splinter cell chaos theory. ( I recently got it again for a 3rd play through :) )it's a tough choice really because they are both great, so for modern stealth SC:CT and also I would give a nod to Tench SA. I wish they would make a really good updated version of tenchu that used a mix of gameplay from all these games.
I agree with BSC14 that Tenchu was a great stealth game back in the days. Hitman have a little more action moments than pure stealth. Another great game is Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, especially mission 3 The Bank. Dont get me wrong i like the Hitman series. But to answer your question i would definetly chose Thief II: The Metal Age as the best stealth game so far.
not sure if i would call Batman a Stealth game, its more of an action game with stalking segments. At least thats how I played it.
For me, Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow/Chaos Theory. From what I have played of Thief: Deadly Shadows its really good, but I stopped after the first three missions for no reason at all and haven't returned to it in years.
Deus Ex also had really good stealth if you chose to play that way.
I was very fond of Splinter Cell 1 and Chaos Theory. I can't really choose between the two, but I like Chaos Theory a bit more because it was a game that had the possibility of being 100%, which is hard as hell but so gratifying in the end.
Another great game is Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, especially mission 3 The Bank.

that level is absolutely awesome, probably my favourite in the game.
despite loving all the thief games i'd probably choose chaos theory as my overall favourite, ive replayed it well over 10 times and never get bored of it.
also one game not mentioned that actually has a very good stealth system is oblivion
The Theif games are #1...the first Tenchu was pretty sweet back in the day as well.

I had forgotten about Tenchu, great games (last one I played was wrath of heaven). I have heard great things about Thief though I have never played them. The splinter Cell games are pretty good, the ones before double agent that is,
So I see that most of the votes go to Thief Deadly Shadows and Hitman Blood Money Any other good ones apart from the 3 famous series for stealth (Thief, Splinter Cell & Hitman) ??
