I was gonna go for the i7-4770k but having seen the benchies think I'm gonna get an 15-4670k. The I7 has about 15% better performance in games but costs 50% more

You would be better off buying a GTX 770 instead of buying a new CPU and Motherboard. Your i5 750 is still good enough... Buy a CPU cooler and overclock that thing to 3.5GHz and you are golden. That CPU of yours and a GTX 770 would double your FPS performance or more if your CPU is overclocked... If you spend $400/£300 on a new CPU and motherboard your only going to gain a 5-10FPS gaming performance increase and a little more in CPU intensive games. You're choice really, but if your gaming make the right choice.

Where did you get that 15% from? If its mainly for gaming go 4670K.

A i5 750 overclocked to 3.5GHz is almost as i5 2500k give or take 5fps when gaming. Youd be paying literally $400 for 5-15FPS extra.... from a gaming performance perspective its a dumb decision, no offense.

I'm for sure skipping Haswell. I was going to wait for it but my local microcenter had an i7 3770K on sale for $229 a couple of months ago so I decided to get it (I'm glad I did because I would of had to spend $279 for the 4770K and maybe $20-30 more for a equivalent motherboard).

The next generation consoles aren't running that great of CPU's and games tend to favor GPU's the most so I suspect that most people with a highly clocked 2xxx/3xxx i5 or higher will hold off on upgrading for quite some time (espically if there not enthuasist).

Games will get more demanding in the next year or two in terms of CPU but then again games will get more efficient/better programmed for Quad cores

Haswell isn't worth it for anyone who already has Sandy/Ivy.

As mentioned above, you are better off upgrading your GPU.

To be honest back in Febuary I was planning on getting the 4770k with the GTX 780 but decided to go with the 3770k with a Titan.

Have a 3770k I'll probably be rocking for a while. I am thinking of upgrading my Radeon HD 6870 to a GTX 770.

Yeah anyone with a 3770k/3930k and up has no need to upgrade IMO.

But, I have a 2500k, which is still damned good and overclocks very well. (5.0-5.2GHz)

I was still thinking of pulling the trigger on 4770k with an 1150 mobo, but from what I keep reading about it, it's not really that great on overclocking. For the price, I may as well just save $$ and get a 3770k. *sigh* What to do ? lol

I'm going to stick with my 2500k. I'll probably do a big upgrade within the next year and have my CPU, GPU, and mobo replaced.

The only way I'd get a 4770k is if my Mobo died, but then again if that happened I'd most likely go for a X79 and 3960K

I'll think about it longer and see how those upgrading to Haswell are doing with them. I'm in no rush, I can wait. ;)

It was just a thought, sometimes I catch myself and think twice about it. I'm still satisfied with the 2500k.

My main reason to upgrade was to give this CPU/Mobo/RAM to wife and it would be her way overdue upgrade from an old AMD Athlon X2 5600. (It's a pre-built HP) It's definitely showing it's age.

I want to build a computer, so im not upgrading like a bunch of you guys. Should I get a Haswell? I was thinking of the i5-3570k cause it seems like a good cpu for the price, but I know nothing about haswells and they seem new so what I find on the web sounds inconclusive. so far, i just read that the haswell is not much better for gaming.

i agree with Grey_Eyed_Elf even with your cpu i5-750 at stock would be no slouch either if you game at 1080p.but given you have ovrclocked it very well there is litrally no need for Haswell along with nwe mobo etc.

if i had to buy one or the other, right now, i would go with the i5 4670k. but i would buy it from microcenter @ $199.99 (better prices). http://www.microcenter.com/product/413251/Core_i5_4670K_34GHz_Socket_LGA_1150_Boxed_Processor buying a haswell cpu with a new z87 motherboard might mean you won't have to upgrade your motherboard if you decide to buy a new CPU in a few years. but the z77 is a dead end socket. once you buy one, you're stuck with that build and would have to upgrade both CPU and motherboard if you ever want to go faster. and that's why i would buy the i5 4670k/z87 combo over the i5 3750k/z77 combo. plus the z87 motherboards also offers crazy high end mhz ram compatibility that the z77 boards don't support. but if i were you i would wait. i would just read the reviews for a month and see what happens before jumping in right now and make sure you get it right.

Its a good deal but its in store only (make sure you note that when recommending it because there isn't that many microcenter locations).
