I don't keep up with SSDs.
So I want 120-128giger
Cheap as hell is what I am looking for.
Anyone got any recommendations? What models to avoid? I'd look myself but they change so fast, so not sure what to pick.

OCZ Vertex 3 for speed but poor reliability (as a boot drive). Crucial M4 for pretty good speeds and decent reliability. Intel 520 for ok speeds but the best reliability.
If you're aiming for the cheapest, you're not going to get the best of speeds or any notable reliability. In that case, just buy whatever the hell your wallet feels comfy with.
Well I myself placed a order for a Crucial M4 60Gb SSD, I dont have to much money right now so I went for the most reliable at a decent price. Generally speaking people will say to stay away from anything with a sandforce controller, they offer high speeds which you wont notice in day to day use generally but still faster. The SSD's to buy right now are Crucial M4's, Corsair Performance Pro, Samsung 830 and Intel 510 (samsung and Intel being the best of the 4). Also if I recall you get Norton Ghost with the samsung and also a game not sure about that though.
If you want cheap as hell i reccomend thesandisk ultra ssd, 120 gb can be had from around 120-140. My boot times are like 24 secs with it
[QUOTE="Silicel1"] Why on earth would you recommend a sandforce ssd especially OCZ agility ones.Slow_Show
Because at the end of the day it's a good deal and they're not that unreliable?
This is data that we are talking about reliability is the most important factor, also the only place sanforce will win is reding/writing large files. They are plagued by lots of bugs unfortunatelly, I am not doubting they performance because they are top performers when they work, but the low end segment is more prone to these issues then the high end.So I am looking at this, but it's sandforce... seems to have good reviews though, and it's cheap. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820171545JigglyWiggly_
The Agility 3 should be a bit faster for effectively the same price, so I'd still lean towards that. Sandforce's reliability really isn't that big a deal relative to the money you save (although you can get a 128GB Crucial M4 for $160-170 if you did want to go with something more reliable).

Wut? Intel's 520 series are as fast, if not faster than Vertex 3's.

He may have been thinking of the 510's instead of the new 520's.
I just bought the 128gb Crucial M4 SSD and love it. From post beep to fully loaded window 7 desktop is 19 seconds.Well I myself placed a order for a Crucial M4 60Gb SSD, I dont have to much money right now so I went for the most reliable at a decent price.
