Good question.

I had a couple of large carboard boxes filled with basically my pre-2004 collection of games, which was significant. But I was storing it at my folks' place and after asking me a few times "can we get rid of it" I think I finally said "OK" and we dropped it off at Goodwill.

Hope there was nothing valuable in there!

I did keep my Falcon 4.0 game, though. Gotta love a game that comes with a manual in a giant 3" ring binder :D

I've got a lot - even some that remain unopened because I never got around to playing them. I used to have around 150+, my collection is probably closer to 100 now. Sold some off 4-5 years ago to get a little cash when things were tight, made close to a grand off the 4 dozen or so games I sold.

The one that got me the most money was a Lord of the Rings game.....Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth. I had the original box in near mint, all the content that came with the box and so on - sold it for $100.

The next one that got me around $100 was The Elder Scrolls: Anthology (I had picked up a copy of the game at my local Target from the sale bin, was the only copy within 250 miles of me at any Target stores, for around $15). No real reason that I bought it, I just purchased it because I could, I already had these games.

Most other games netted between $30-75, depending on the rarity.....going off the list of games I keep track of that I have and have complete and have not completed, I'll see how many I can list from memory that I still have a physical copy of and all these games are still in their original boxes unless I note otherwise:

  • Alpha Protocol
  • Baldur's Gate 2
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum
  • Batman: Arkham City
  • Batman: Arkham Origins
  • Batman: Arkham Knight (unopened)
  • Bioshock 2 (unopened)
  • Bioshock Infinity (unopened)
  • Boiling Point: Road to Hell
  • Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood (this one is a big box, unopened copy - I just picked up a digital copy of it on GoG for $4 bucks and I started playing it just the other day)
  • Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway (unopened, but got a digital copy on GoG for $4. Since I really enjoyed the Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30, I figured I finally need to play the other two games)
  • Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth
  • Call of Duty 2
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  • Company of Heroes 2
  • Contract J.A.C.K
  • Crysis 2
  • Crysis 3
  • Doom (just disc, no box)
  • Doom 2 (just disc, no box)
  • Doom 3
  • DarkStar One
  • Dawn of War II
  • Diablo II (original big box)
  • Drakensang: The River of Time (this might be a digital copy, too lazy to check)
  • Dungeon Siege
  • Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna
  • Dungeon Siege II
  • Dungeon Siege II: Broken Sword
  • F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate
  • Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel
  • FarCry
  • FarCry 2
  • Freelancer (best damn space sim ever)
  • Giants: Citizen Kabuto (big box, unopened)
  • Gods: Lands of Infinity (this game wouldn't install when I had purchased it back when Vista was the latest and greatest OS, so I never got a chance to play it)
  • Gothic 3
  • Gothic 3: Forsake Gods
  • Grand Ages: Rome
  • Half-Life
  • Half-Life 2
  • Half-Life 2: Episodes 1 & 2
  • Heroes of Might and Magic V
  • Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
  • Lords of the Fallen
  • Lord of the Rings: Conquest
  • Medal of Honor Allied Assault (this is a big box, unopened game)
  • No One Lives Forever 2: Mask of the Betrayer (unopened box)
  • Omikron: The Nomad Soul
  • Pariah
  • Prey (2006)
  • Quake II (just disc)
  • Quake IV
  • Red Faction: Guerrilla
  • Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay
  • Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (not as good as EFBB, but still decent)
  • Sacred Gold
  • SpellForce: Shadow of the Phoenix
  • SpellForce: The Breath of Winter
  • SpellForce: The Order of Dawn
  • SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars
  • SpellForce 2: Dragon Storm
  • TES3: Morrowind and all expansions
  • TES4: Oblivion
  • The Witcher
  • The Witcher 2
  • Thief: The Dark Project (just the disc)
  • TimeShift (I think this one is unopened)
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas
  • Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 (I think this one is unopened)
  • Wizardry 8
  • Neverwinter Nights and all the expansions
  • Neverwinter Nights 2 and all the expansions
  • Mass Effect
  • Mass Effect 2
  • Mass Effect 3
  • Kingdoms of Almalur Reckoning
  • Assassin's Creed
  • Assassin's Creed 2
  • Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
  • Assassin's Creed: Revelations
  • Assassin's Creed III

I'm getting tired and I know there are more....my guess is I'm missing 2-3 dozen more that I can't think of that are stashed away in a box in the crawlspace storage area that I don't have on my list.

I miss physical copies....just something about having them in your hands, enjoying the reading of back stories and looking through the foldable map/posters/skill trees. Seeing all the artwork in the books and the extra little things (such as the mouse pad that came with Max Payne.....sadly, this was one of the games I also sold) that come with them.

If you had any that were in their original box, had everything that came with and were in good condition - you probably lost out on a good chunk of change. Some people still pay good money for these games since physical copies are no longer made (to my knowledge).

My younger brother trashed most of my games pre-2000. I had them in storage at my parents as I went off to college. I come home to visit a few months later and he had helped himself to my PC games. He trashed all the boxes, all the game discs after he installed them were tossed on the floor or used as a fuking coaster, they were all scratched or broken. Dozens of games he just outright destroyed. I was so pissed.

The only ones I could salvage was Half-Life and Diablo II - these two were not trashed, still have the big boxes and all. I was able to save a couple of other discs of some games, such as WarCraft 2 and Thief: The Dark Project. It still irritates me to no end when I think about......oh well.

That's rough.

Was it intentional? That kind of disrespect for another person's property is just mind boggling if otherwise.

  • GTA Voice City
  • Need for Speed

  • Free Fire
  • PUBG Free UC

Was it intentional? That kind of disrespect for another person's property is just mind boggling if otherwise.

I went to college, moved out in the summer of '99. My brother is 5 years younger than I am, so he was around 13-14 at the time, he always liked my computer that I had and all the games for it, but I wouldn't let him use my stuff because he never asked, he would just take and use. I had to hide the power cable (took it with me to school in my backpack everyday) for my computer so he couldn't use it when I wasn't home. He just always had a mindset that he could do as he wanted.

I guess when he stumbled across all my PC games after I had moved out for college he got excited and just did whatever the hell he wanted. He was a giant slob at this point in his life - always leaving food and glasses of milk in his room, garbage.

It wasn't intentional, but it did suck.....I lost Warcraft, Diablo, Black & White, The Chosen: Blood II, StarCraft and countless other games. I never even got an apology from him for how he treated my stuff as I dug through his shit in his room trying to find things (ripped up, crushed boxes. torn apart game manuals. scratched to hell or broken discs. shattered jewel cases and so on) to see if I could salvage any of my stuff.

On the bright side, he did learn how shitty it was when people treated your stuff with disrespect. When he was around 20 and living with a couple of roommates in college, his roommates would just go into his room and play his Xbox without permission. They broke one of the controllers, damaged game discs and they did the same to his DVDs that they'd just take and watch without asking. After he experienced this for a number of months he finally came up to me and apologized for how he mistreated my games and ruined them. He now had an understanding of why I wouldn't allow him to borrow anything (movies, games, etc) from me after the destruction of my PC games. After he learned that lesson he treated all his stuff with kid gloves and I've let him borrow games and movies and they come back to me the condition I lent them to him.

My physical PC game collection is WAY too big to list. I've got boxes full of PC games from floppy disks to CDs to DVDs. I was really late to this whole "Steam" thing. I still prefer physical media, especially when I can play the game right off the disk.

Hmmm... I still got Bioshock and Bioshock 2 collector edition. I know that I still got the games for N64, GBC, GBA, NDS and N3DS. Quite sure I haven't tossed the old Xbox games.
