hmm.... i'm thinking about getting this game too, but like teardrop i'm only interested in the story mode. will it be worth it to get AA in this case? (i know it lasts only about 12 hours)
From what I've seen so far: Yes. It takes a while to get used to some of the stuff like the combat. But eventually it really sucks you in.hmm.... i'm thinking about getting this game too, but like teardrop i'm only interested in the story mode. will it be worth it to get AA in this case? I finished the game at 79% but i did alot of the Riddler Puzzles and when I finished it I didn't play it again , IF you play the game without any riddles and arkham secret might be 50-55%75 - did you get a lot of the riddles etc?75% or so. I'm 95% jnow, only need to finishe some more combat challenge rooms.
CyberAltair5
I had most of the trophies, bios and riddles and I did like 3-4 challenge rooms before finishing it.
It's quite a long game for the genre.I have been wanting to get this but it sounds kinda short
Sonir77
I finished it the first playthrough with 240/240 @ around 83% without a faq. Figuring out some of the riddles was more fun than the rest of the game imo.
I hated the combat so i didnt bother with challenges which would get me the remaining 17% or so.
[QUOTE="Sonir77"]It is short. But it is a really good game while it lasts. It's a pity you can't rent PC games. I'd try and borrow a friend's if they have it, or rent it on a console. I advise everyone NOT to miss this game.I have been wanting to get this but it sounds kinda short

Oh damn.
I thought that the percentage was a kind of absolute, and a way to gauge how close we are to completion. So at 10% I'm actually closer to finishing this game than I thought I was?
I've been playing since day one, and I was thinking just the other night: 'I'm only at 10% and yet I've done all this stuff? Man, this game is going to be long.'
But now I learn that it's just a trick. Actually, it's a good thing I learned this now, because if my game had conked out on me at 65% I probably would've gone postal or something. I would've come to this forum and started cursing about it. Ah well, it's a great game anyhow. And yes I agree with this individual above me. Everybody should buy this game.

because it's overall an average, ok game for me, and a bats fan at that. maybe great for beat em' up action adventure and wide treasure hunt fans.
repetitive level and fight; you basically do everything in the first 10% of the game.
the most telling is the titan goon fight, well, have you fight bane yet? basically, you will do that fight over and over again en route to finish.
level wise, later on you just do the same thing with little modification (via new gadgets).
Paul Dini is great writer, Harley Quinn is one of the best things modern writer bring to Batman universe; but the storyline is simply servicible and the level design is left too much to be desired.
want a great Bats game, try Batman: Vengeance. story is richer and level design has more variety. yeah, outdated graphic from today's standard, yet the animation series styIe is more charming than the realistic look of B:AA.

Did you just suggest that Batman: Vengeance is a better game than AA?

Your points about the game are very general
The level design left a lot to be desired? Like what? There's plenty of variety from what I've seen so far: sewer tunnels, mansions, hospital areas, gardens. And the ability of the game to switch from combat sequences, to light exploration of these areas, along with platforming is seamless.
You say the story is serviceable: granted I haven't played all of the game yet. I would say its serviceable in the very best way though: It offers a distinct, unique location, a goal for the player, a mystery as to what Joker is up to, the inclusion of several villains without seeming contrived, a history of the Island itself, background information on the characters and their psyche. From what I've seen so far: its extremely rich..
You see everything in the first 10% I could argue that any FPS game - including the HL games - shows you what you do: you run and shoot. It is about variety and this game has it in spades:
Take down a group of thugs > the groups get bigger, stealth your way through a section > then you have guards with collars and sniper rifles. Solve some secrets, more gadgets > reach new areas. Also, the platforming and exploration, break up the combat so you dont get bored of it.
I highly doubt as well that Batman: V has a better combat system than this or better AI.
This game never set out to be 'charming' in its visuals: its a gritty, mature world, that is meant to be hard-hitting and vicious - the presentation is splendid
Of course, we agree to disagree..

I did.
what Superman has to do with anything here.
anyway, there's always great chance that my good game is bad in your eyes, just like there are games I enjoy immensely but you simply cannot get into them.

sure, I'm not here to argue with you about whether this game is good or not; I was simply answering your question concerning my statement of the overhyping of this game.
just to finish myself off,
whatever you said in your post, I quote myself:
"level wise, later on you just do the same thing with little modification (via new gadgets)."
every genre, not just FPS, is about repetition, there's only more or less appealing repetitions. in this case, B:AA's repetition is not something that great to me.
ADD:
one thing though, there's one repetition in B:AA I find exteremely pleasing: gargoyles...put into silence a group of goons without being spotted once...that feels good.
