Since I'm running Windows 8.1 I use the built in Windows Defender and it seems to work really well and it's completely non-intrusive.

Microsoft security essentials and Norton. As much flak as Norton gets it does a hell of a job. So far it's kept my computer safe and clean.

I've been using Bitdefender for a couple of months now, but I'm considering returning to Avast - Bitdefender's simplicity and almost non-existent interface leave me in doubt and make me think if my PC really is protected.

Most will laugh at this but I use Norton system tools.

A few years ago Norton was a horrible system hog but these days it uses very few resources, non intrusive, secure and safe.

I used AVG for a while but that was a nightmare to do anything with.

Malware Bytes Pro. Never seen a pop up or any indication that's even running. Plus I know it's good and was cheap.

Are you kidding me? Norton is the worst and most intrusive antivirus ever made from my experiance.

Nod32 has been absolutely perfect for me.

Same here (though for longer).

Out of all the free anti virus's I've used (AVG, Avast, Avira), Avira has been the most stable and the fastest. AVG got terrible with the resource usage and when I used Avast, it actually got infected by a virus and I had to use Avira to clean it up, so that is what I have been using ever since.

Avast!

Seems to work fine, and is fairly cheap. Used to use Norton since it came with my PC, but I am glad that is gone.

MSE and malwarebytes free scans every week or so on both my laptop and desktop.

I know MSE isn't the best but it's good enough and doesn't ever get in the way.

I've used BitDefender for the last 5 years or so but this time I felt like trying something different. I've used Ad-aware Free + for the last month or so, it's ok but there's nothing like the feel of a good paid AV.

That's it I'm going back to paid!

Edit: I download some strange stuff so I need comprehensive Anti-virus

Whatever is built into Windows, with a handful of things disabled, and a careful eye on what I look at and/or download. I haven't used any other kind of dedicated anti-virus in nearly 10 years, and haven't got a virus in that time, either.

If you don't have anti-virus software, how do you know that you don't have any viruses or malware?

I used some like McAfee and AVG for years, but recently, I've switched over to just the Microsoft ones like Defender. I find that it detects with greater accuracy. In the EXTREMELY rare event I get a virus (always because someone else used it) I use Malwarebytes free anti-malware removal tool, though Microsoft has their own option.

Windows Defender since it's built in to Windows 8, and common sense.

Antivirus is dead anyway, according to Symantec.

I personally don't use and agree about using anti virus but I've encountered a virus which caused me rather odd heavy slow to my computer which forced me to reset it, my heart almost stopped beating when I thought it was the end and I'm needed to format and install all of my programs and games all over again.

Long Short story: I use NOD32
